Meghan Markle allegedly remained at home in Santa Barbara, California, and did not accompany Harry to London for Prince Philip’s funeral because she did not “want to be the center of attention,” according to sources linked to the Duchess.

Markle didn’t want to make headlines at such a difficult moment, according to her friends, as the fallout from her and Harry’s fiery interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, which raked the British royal family over the coals, persists.

They also said Meghan said that “attending or not attending Prince Philip’s funeral isn’t going to change her relationship with the Queen. He was initially greeted by security officials at the airport, and he was later seen getting into a black Land Rover that drove him to Kensington Palace.
