The Hollywood of the 1950s was dominated by two leading ladies: Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. But did you know that these two shared an intimate moment together?

Marilyn Monroe (1926-1962) was the ultimate sex symbol of her time, while Elizabeth Taylor (1932-2011) was the most sought-after actress of the same era.

It may seem far-fetched that the sultry Elizabeth Taylor would engage in a tryst with another woman, but it did indeed occur. It was the alluring blonde, Marilyn Monroe, who showed Elizabeth the pleasures of a same-sex encounter.

A Secret Night in Vegas

The passionate encounter between Marilyn and Elizabeth transpired in Las Vegas. In this rendezvous, Elizabeth took a more submissive role, while Marilyn led the way.

Elizabeth later detailed the experience in her diary.

“Her touch was electric. I wanted to see how far the bitch would go. But she had to do all the work.”

Marilyn’s Love for Women Marilyn Monroe was the ultimate sex symbol of the 1950s

It was widely known that Marilyn had a strong attraction to women (even more than to men).

“Marilyn used her tongue, lavishly flicking and licking, an entirely new sensation for me. With the girls I had enjoyed sex with, there was often a shyness and hesitancy, not the hunger and confidence Marilyn displayed.”

Marilyn was no amateur lover. For instance, when she was with actress Joan Crawford, the latter cried out in ecstasy.

In fact, Marilyn lived with her lover and acting coach Natasha Lytess for years, refining her skills in pleasing women. She certainly knew how to make a woman climax.

“Oh yes, Crawford. We went to Joan’s bedroom; Crawford had a gigantic orgasm and shrieked like a maniac. Credit Natasha. She could teach more than acting.”

Media Rivalry Between Marilyn and Elizabeth

While the media often portrayed Marilyn and Elizabeth as rivals, their competition was mostly fabricated by the press. In 1962, when Marilyn commissioned a photographer to take nude photos of her in a pool, she set only one stipulation.

The photographer could use the images however he wanted, as long as they weren’t published in the same magazine as photos of Elizabeth Taylor.

Marilyn was envious of Elizabeth’s one million USD per movie earnings, compared to her own 100,000 USD. To enhance her value, Marilyn decided to capitalize on her sex appeal by posing nude.

However, the two were not actually enemies. It was mostly the media that portrayed them as such.

When Marilyn was fired from 20th Century Studios in 1962, Elizabeth reached out to her, offering support and advice:

“No matter what they write about me, Marilyn, I never deny it. I never confirm it. I just keep smiling and walking forward. You do the same.”
