Lily Allen was kicked out of an awards show after snorting ketamine
Lily Allen may be promoting a book, but she is also going big some personal details.
The singer said that she was thrown out of the 2008 Glamour Women of the Year Awards when she was 23 years old because she was under the influence of ketamine.
Ms. Allen was replying to Brook Rogers’ question, “(what) is the best reason you’ve been kicked out of an event, building or group?”
She posted pictures of herself taken by paparazzi in which a bouncer was seen carrying her as she appeared unconscious. She wrote:
Trending:
“Someone gave me a line of what I assumed to be cocaine at the Glamour Awards once, but it turned out to be Ketamine. I was thrown out (passed over some railings) of the Glamour Awards for being in a k hole.”
Ketamine is essentially an animal tranquilizer, so being in a “k-hole” means you have no idea what is happening in the world around you. Not good if you’re at a posh awards ceremony.
One photo sees Lily, who buried her head in her chest, being handed to another two doormen over a set of iron railings.
The pink haired songstress looked worse for wear as she was transported into a taxi.
In the image she was seen clutching her Glamour award for Editor Special Prize, as news outlets at the time assumed she had ‘had a few too many champagnes’.
Lily added: “They put me into an empty taxi and then the paps caught wind, so my assistant shouted ‘go go go.’
“Obviously I couldn’t talk, or direct the driver, so my assistant instructed the occupant of the car behind to ‘follow that cab.’
“I believe the occupant was Alan Carr, I have no idea what happened next.”
Lily Allen was famous in the late-noughties for her hard partying ways and admitted to dealing drugs in Ibiza as a teenager, but has since changed her ways, singing “Staying home with you is better than sticking things up my nose” on her 2013 album Sheezus.
Some shocked social media users said they were “disappointed” that Allen, a role model to many young girls, was sharing the story publicly.
“What a brilliant role model you are! I certainly wouldn’t want any child of mine to look up to you or be inspired by you. Is there a new book to promote…,” one person said.
One woman asked her “is this really something to glamorise/ be proud of?”
To which Ms Allen replied: “Probably not, did you have a point?”
Another Twitter user said: “How disappointing then that you tweet comments as earlier. Do you not even comprehend your role in many young girls’ lives.
“Tweet your loving thoughtful and generous moments NOT your flaws in future.”
Amy continued: “There are people responding to this with phrases like ‘goals’ and ‘hilarious’… my point is that could have a damaging affect and glamorising drug taking could be dangerous.”
“What a brilliant role model you are!” wrote AC. “I certainly wouldn’t want any child of mine to look up to you or be inspired by you.”
The star also declined to accept the ‘Hero of the Year’ accolade at last year’s Diversity in Media Awards, stating: “Me being here at all is emblematic of one of the biggest problem I believe this nation of ‘ours’ is facing.
“Me, a middle-class white woman rewarded for speaking up for the people that I believe in, in an area I grew up in and call home.”
