King Charles Takes Tough Stance on Non-Working Royals: Implications for Duke and Duchess Sussex Titles

The Royal Family is once again in the spotlight as King Charles adopts a hardline approach towards non-working members.

Recent reports suggest that Prince Andrew may have to vacate the Royal Lodge, as his $249,000 grant is set to be cut from April, leaving him struggling to maintain the property.

Additionally, all members of the Royal Family have been instructed to tighten their belts and anticipate reduced funds from the Duchy of Lancaster, which serves as the Sovereign’s private income.

This move by King Charles could have significant consequences for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

According to a Royal commentator, Charles might employ this tougher stance to pressure Prince Harry and Meghan into refraining from using their titles.

If the couple continues to exploit their titles to criticize the institution, Charles may be compelled to take action.

Such a decision could greatly impact their future financial endeavors.

It should be noted, however, that an act of Parliament would be required to officially strip either Andrew or Harry of their titles.

Nevertheless, a poll conducted by the Mirror revealed that 95% of respondents favored the revocation of the Sussexes’ titles.

If Charles is willing to take a firm stance against Andrew, it leaves Harry and Meghan without their safety net of “What About Andrew.”

Daniela Iser, writing for the New Zealand Herald, suggests that if Charles follows through with trimming Andrew’s privileges, it could create a challenging situation for Harry and Meghan, particularly when their careers in the US appear to be at a crossroads.

Despite their strained relationship with the family, the Sussexes have reportedly received invitations to attend the coronation of the King and Queen Consort on May 6th.

However, it remains uncertain whether Harry and Meghan will accept due to concerns about public reaction.

Their absence, if they choose not to attend, could be perceived as a snub.

Harry has expressed his desire to reconcile with his family and prefers to have discussions in private.

However, tensions between the Sussexes and the royal family remain high.

The unfolding events will be closely observed to gauge the impact of King Charles’ new approach to non-working roles on the wider family and the monarchy as a whole.
