Inside ‘Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace’ Lifetime drama movie
A release date has been set for Lifetime’s third film on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The newest movie in the Harry & Meghan television movie franchise will air on Monday, September 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. on the drama network. Jordan Dean and Sydney Morton will portray the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The Lifetime movie event follows Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they stand down as senior members of the royal family and relocate from the United Kingdom to the state of California
Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace rehashes the events that led Harry (Dean) and Meghan (Morton) to flee the palace in search of a better life for themselves and their baby Archie. Meghan’s growing isolation and sadness, their disappointment that “The Firm” was not defending them against the press’s attacks, and Harry’s fear that history would repeat itself and he would be unable to protect his wife and son from the same forces that may have contributed to his mother’s untimely death will all be depicted in the film. It will look at the factors that led to the final rupture from royal relations between Will and Harry, Kate and Meghan, and Harry with Will and Charles.
A royal advisor urges Prince William (Jordan Whalen) and Kate Middleton (Laura Mitchell) to “let it be known who the real royals are,” in the trailer.

Sydney, in character as Meghan, adds, “We have to protect our family. We need to let people hear our truth.”
Merideth Finn and Michele Weiss serve as executive producers. Scarlett Lacey’s script will be directed by Menhaj Huda.
Meghan was formerly portrayed by Parisa Fitz-Henley and Tiffany Marie Smith, with Murray Fraser and Charlie Field as Prince Harry.
Meghan has spoken out about how the increasing stress and scrutiny she was under, along with an alleged lack of assistance from palace personnel, had a severe affect on her mental health in real life. “If I’m left alone, I don’t know what I’d do,” Meghan says to Harry in the teaser, referring to one of the crisis moments she highlighted in her televised interview with Oprah.
The real Harry and Meghan have been busy raising their 2-year-old son Archie and newborn daughter Lilibet. The former Suits actor is also rejoicing about the recent launch of Pearl, a new animated series for Netflix that she created and executive produces.
“Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges,” Meghan said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history. David Furnish and I have been eager to bring this special series to light, and I am delighted we are able to announce it today.”
The trailer ends in classic Lifetime style, with a clip of the actors recreating the Winfrey interview and a voiceover of Harry stating, “We’re stopping them from destroying us like they have so many others.”
