Farewell to Frogmore: Duke and Duchess of Sussex Depart Royal Residence
In a surprising turn of events, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have bid farewell to their residence at Frogmore Cottage, complying with an eviction notice issued by King Charles earlier this year.
Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the privy purse, has confirmed their departure from the five-bedroom property located on the Windsor Estate.
While the royal couple has relinquished Frogmore Cottage, uncertainty looms over its future occupants.
A senior royal aide revealed that no decision has been reached concerning the new inhabitants.
Speculation suggests that the King may approach his embattled brother Prince Andrew, urging him to consider downsizing from his expansive seven-bedroom abode at Royal Lodge and relocating to Frogmore.

The transformation of Frogmore Cottage, which involved converting staff flats into a home suitable for the Sussexes, came at a cost of £2.4 million to British taxpayers.
However, following the couple’s departure from official royal duties, they repaid the amount in a comprehensive agreement that included several years’ worth of rent.
It remains unclear whether Harry and Meghan have managed to recoup any of these funds.
Confirming their departure, Sir Michael, the King’s esteemed financial adviser, stated, ”We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore.
We will not disclose further details about the arrangement, other than to reiterate that Harry and Meghan have fully covered the expenses related to the sovereign grant for the cottage’s renovation, leaving the crown with a significantly enhanced asset.”
Originally acquired by Queen Victoria in the 19th century, Frogmore is an integral part of the taxpayer-funded occupied Royal Palace estate.
Meanwhile, Prince Andrew holds a 75-year lease on the sprawling 30-room lodge, a property maintained by the independent Crown Estate.
Despite plans to renovate Royal Lodge in the coming months, reports indicate that Prince Andrew is adamant about staying in his current residence, which he shares with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
Earlier this year, a source disclosed to OK Magazine, ”Andrew is resolute in his decision to remain at Royal Lodge for the duration of his lease.
He will not yield Frogmore without a fight.
Royal Lodge is his cherished home, and he will employ all means necessary to retain ownership of the property.”
Following their departure from the Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan relocated to Montecito in the US, where they now reside with their two children, 4-year-old Prince Archie and Lilibet.
Prince Harry recently spent three nights at Frogmore during a visit, as the property had previously served as their UK base.
It’s been reported that the Sussexes stayed in Frogmore during the Platinum Jubilee last June, accompanied by their two children.
As the saga surrounding Frogmore continues, the question of who will ultimately inhabit this historically significant residence remains unanswered.
The future of the iconic cottage, intertwined with both the British monarchy and taxpayers’ funds, hangs in the balance, awaiting a resolution that will shape its destiny for years to come.
