Emma Stone: ‘My Dad Would Kill Me If I Posed Without Clothes’
Emma Stone, an actress who is dating her “Spider-Man” co-star Andrew Garfield, claims her father would “kill” her if she showed any skin in a movie.
The “Help” actress said that if she bared herself on TV, her father would never talk to her again.
The actress said, “My dad would kill me if I posed n-k-d. He wouldn’t speak to me again and I really love my dad, so that’s always something that makes me a little nervous.” Can we get a collective “Awww” here?
Emma acknowledged that, despite their concerns about bare scenes in movies, her parents always gave her the impression that she could succeed in any field.
She said, “They are the coolest parents in the world. They taught us responsibility and the need to own up to our actions and that honesty really is the only policy,” in an interview.

“My parents always made me feel as though I could do anything – not in a cheerleading, ‘You’re the greatest!’ kind of way; it was more, ‘You’re going to have to work hard, but we’ll support you however we can’. Just to have that kind of backing was incredible.”
Although it may seem ironic that they would support her acting yet condemn any some scenes that result from it, I believe it makes some sense. It’s likely that most parents don’t want their kids to flaunt their goodies to the public. Of course not everyone can be Kris Jenner. I believe that most young people just don’t respect their parents enough to take their viewpoint into account. Stone seems to be extremely close to her parents and is more worried about their reactions than whether or not a little shower scene would advance her career.
It’s encouraging to watch a young person appreciate and revere her parents. I don’t believe women should be embarrassed of their bodies. So if it’s done well, I don’t have a big issue with it. However, I do like learning about a family that interacts and cherishes mutual respect.
Emma may not take herself or the accolades too seriously, but she is steadfast when it comes to her profession. She traveled to Los Angeles from her home Arizona at the age of 15 (supported by her mother), having known since she was a small kid that she wanted to pursue a career in acting. Since then, she has consistently worked, cornering the market in feisty but likeable adolescents.
According to Emma, “My parents had no desire to be actors and if either of them had to do any public speaking, I think they’d probably throw up (with nerves), but they were very understanding about my wanting to act and were so supportive. I just want to make them proud.”
Her mother will undoubtedly be pleased with her most recent performance in The Help. Based on Kathryn Stockett’s best-selling book of the same name, it chronicles the story of African-American maids employed by white families in Mississippi in the 1960s, during the height of the Civil Rights Movement. Mother of Emma
The Deep South, namely Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where Krista spent the most of her youth, had a special resonance for the book.
“My mum was obsessed with the book,’ states Emma, ‘but I didn’t know that until I called her one day and told her I was meeting the film’s director, Tate Taylor. Mum isn’t super-emotional – I’ve always been the basket case – but when I told her I’d got the part, she cried and cried. I couldn’t believe it,” Emma continues . ‘I thought: “Well, now I’ve got to live up to my mum’s expectations of Skeeter.”’
