Edward Enninful, the former Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, has made headlines after stepping down from his position to take on a new role at Condé Nast.

Speculations have arisen about a power struggle between Enninful and Vogue’s overall Editor-in-Chief, Dame Anna Wintour, ever since he assumed the post in 2017.

Sources close to the matter have revealed that Enninful was allegedly involved in negotiations that violated regulations within the fashion industry.

It is believed that he accepted money to promote lesser-known celebrities, which resulted in severe criticism for Vogue magazine within the fashion community.

One particular incident that sparked controversy was Enninful’s decision to feature Meghan Markle on the cover of the Influential Women issue, excluding Queen Elizabeth II.

This move infuriated Wintour, who holds the Queen in high regard due to her British heritage.

Recent developments suggest that Enninful may have realized the gravity of his actions and attempted to distance himself from Markle.

However, it appears to be too late, as past dealings between the two have come to light, catching the attention of Anna Wintour.

Despite initially indulging Markle, Enninful seemingly had a change of heart and distanced himself from her.

He did not invite her to his wedding or his book launch, causing embarrassment for Markle, who happened to be in London on the day of the launch.

Enninful’s decision to sever ties with Markle came shortly after an incident where Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, allegedly attempted to exert influence over his staff regarding a 2019 issue.

Enninful proved to be no pushover and refused to entertain any race-related demands.

According to reports, Markle clashed with Enninful and his team over various aspects of the issue, including its content and publication schedule.

However, the staff refrained from challenging her suggestions, fearing confrontation.

One of the most contentious moments occurred when Markle asked Sarah Latham, head of communications at Vogue and a former member of Hillary Clinton’s team, to prioritize the magazine’s publication in the United States over the United Kingdom.

Latham, who was central to the bullying allegations against Markle, found herself caught in the middle of the conflict.

Buckingham Palace conducted a review following the allegations, but the findings were not made public.

Markle faced backlash in the UK upon the publication of the issue, as anticipated.

Piers Morgan criticized her for self-promotion, while journalist Dan Wooten called her decision to edit the issue “idiotic.”

Camilla Tomini of The Telegraph described it as misguided and patronizing.

Representatives for Markle, Buckingham Palace, and Vogue have yet to respond to requests for comment on these claims.

As the controversy surrounding Edward Enninful’s departure from British Vogue continues to unfold, the fashion industry eagerly awaits further developments and potential repercussions.
