Duchess of Cambridge Joins Queen Elizabeth in Stylish Outing
The Duchess of Cambridge, known for her fashion recycling, once again showcased her impeccable style during a special joint outing with Queen Elizabeth at King’s College in London.
While the Queen opted for her signature bright colors, Kate chose a more understated look, standing by the Queen’s side in a grey fit and flare coat dress by Catherine Walker.
This wasn’t the first time Kate wore a design from this label.
Back in 2012, she sported a similar outfit from Catherine Walker in Leicester.
However, the new design featured some modifications, such as the absence of buttons, an added belt, and a black collar.

To complete her ensemble, she wore a Sylvia Fletcher hat, which she had previously worn during her Diamond Jubilee tour with the Queen in 2012.
According to ticket expert William Hansen, formal day dress always requires a hat, and the Queen rarely attends daytime events without one.
Kate, being aware of the royal protocol, made sure to adhere to this rule.
She not only wore a hat but also opted for black tights instead of her usual sheer ones.
Additionally, she graciously allowed the Queen to exit the car first, exhibiting her understanding of her role as a future Queen and her place in the royal hierarchy.
Kate’s choice of black tights may have been a nod to tradition and a way to showcase her more traditional side.
Normally seen wearing sheer tights with her dresses, this departure from her usual style could be seen as a deliberate move.
It is worth noting that during the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012, Kate was photographed with bare legs, possibly a fashion faux pas she didn’t want to repeat.
Hansen also pointed out that Kate’s decision to wear a more muted mid-grey dress allowed the Queen to stand out and take the spotlight.
It demonstrated respect and consideration for the monarch.
Furthermore, when they arrived at the event, both ladies shared a blue blanket over their laps, following a tradition that the Queen is known for.
During their visit to King’s College, the Queen, who serves as its patron, and Kate toured the facilities and met with supporters of the development.
They also witnessed a robotics demonstration, including robotic surgery, and learned about how textiles can be used to measure vital information about the body.
Discussing Kate’s style adaptation for this joint engagement, Hansen emphasized that working alongside the monarch is not an occasion to deviate from protocol.
He commended Kate for playing it safe and making appropriate choices.
Later in the day, the Duchess visited the Foundling Museum without the Queen and removed her hat, showcasing her versatility and adaptability.
