Colin Farrell ‘back in rehab’ after 12 years of sobriety
According to reports, Colin Farrel has gone into a high-end rehab facility in Arizona after 12 years of sobriety, as a ‘preemptive’ measure.
According to a story on DailyMail, the actor wanted to get therapy before going to a “bad place”.
“Colin has worked so hard to stay sober that the only way he thought he could get it under control was to go back and get some professional help. He has a lot of responsibilities and he thought it best to go away for a while and get help,” they said
A source tells PEOPLE, “He isn’t drinking again. He worked back-to-back projects and just needed a break. He’s been sober 12 years and wanted to do this to make sure he stays that way. He’s taking some me-time and doing a tune-up and a reset. This was all his idea.”
He hasn’t been drinking since, but he did take a break in a rehab center.

The 41-year-old actor, who has a lengthy history of substance problems, was reportedly admitted to the £25,500 ($36,000) a month facility a week ago, according to the Daily Mail.
Patients can participate in the ‘Gentle Path,’ a 45-day therapy program that encourages them to confront their demons through counseling and ‘expressive art.’
Colin was last in a rehab facility in 2005, after deciding to tackle his addictions after filming the film Miami Vice.
He expressed his commitment to sustaining his sobriety in an interview with the Sunday Independent last year, and reminisced on his life-changing resolve to give up drugs and alcohol 12 years ago.
“I had just had it, man. I was done,” he told the Irish Independent.
“For a long time I put the brakes on. For a long time. I could go mad for three, six months, and then I could pull back for a few months to try to re-enter the atmosphere. I couldn’t find the handbrake.”
Colin was romantically linked to a slew of A-listers including Demi Moore, Kate Beckinsale, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and his Alexander The Great co-star Angelina Jolie in his wilder days.
Colin is now more of a family man and devoted father to boys James, 13, and Henry, eight.
