Anna Kendrick has shared her reasons for refusing to shoot n^de scenes on camera.

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, the Pitch Perfect star explained that while she has no issue with simulated s** scenes, she isn’t comfortable with on-screen nudity.

“My personal feelings on nudity – that I’m not really interested in n^dty for me – stayed the same.

I’ve never had a problem with simulated s** scenes – that feels like it’s about the character, whereas I only get one body, so n^dty is more about me,” Kendrick said.

Kendrick is currently promoting her new TV series, Love Life, which is exclusive to HBO Max.

The show follows her character as she goes on a series of romantic dates, so intimate scenes were required.

“When we started filming, it dawned on me that in every single episode I was going to be doing a kissing scene or a s** scene with someone brand new,” Kendrick added.

“It was definitely weird to know that we were going to meet and within a week we were going to be in bed pretending to have s**!”

In recent years, the film and television industry has introduced “intimacy coordinators” to choreograph simulated s** between actors to ensure that they are filmed in a safe and comfortable environment for all involved.

Actors will often have it written into their contracts so they can refuse to shoot n^de scenes, and in cases in the past, body doubles have been employed where necessary.

Kendrick shot to fame thanks to her supporting role in the Twilight franchise.

She received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in director Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air in 2009.

Despite her success, Kendrick has remained selective about the roles she takes.

In a 2017 interview with Elle, she said, “I know that I’m in a very privileged position, with the luxury of being able to choose, so I definitely want to choose things that are challenging and interesting and that I’m going to grow from.”

Kendrick also addressed the challenges of filming intimate scenes and the need for boundaries on set.

“I’ve worked with a lot of male directors who are wonderful and sensitive and have listened when I’ve expressed discomfort,” she said.

“But there are definitely those who have not been that way, and that’s frustrating and scary.”

In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of the need for actors to feel safe and comfortable on set.

Kendrick is not the only actor to speak out about the challenges of filming intimate scenes.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke recently revealed that she had felt pressured to shoot n^de scenes on the hit HBO show.

In an interview with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast, Clarke said, “I’m a lot more savvy [now] with what I’m comfortable with, and what I am okay with doing.”

In her interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, she spoke about the importance of taking on challenging roles.

“I’ve always believed that if you’re not doing something that scares you a little bit, you’re not growing,” she said.
