Rob Lowe addresses reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview was shot at his house
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s sit-down with Oprah Winfrey was rumored to have taken place at Rob Lowe’s home.
Rob Lowe has lived in Montecito with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for an a while, but is the town large enough for all three of them? What does the 9-1-1 Lone Star performer think about the royals coming in?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s much-discussed interview with Oprah Winfrey did not take place at Rob Lowe’s Montecito home, he reveals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down for a widely discussed interview with Winfrey in March of this year, during which many startling disclosures were made.
The 57-year-old actor confirmed on Friday that the sit-down was not shot in his home, despite reports that he had allowed the production crew to film the conversation in his backyard.

Lowe, who has lived in Southern California for 26 years, said, “They definitely have brought a lot of attention to my sleepy little town.” “Let me tell you something, once the royals move into your neighborhood, the neighborhood is never going to be the same.”
The interview took place in what seemed to be a well-kept backyard, with many people recognizing the environment as Lowe’s personal residence in California.
Lowe’s first house in the neighborhood is “over the fence” from Meghan and Harry’s, and although the pair “keep a low profile,” Lowe has crossed paths with the A-listers. “I saw Harry once driving,” Lowe recalled.
Lowe also shared his views on the situation with the media channel, as well as his perspective on where the interview was actually taped.
“It’s so funny. Everybody thinks the interview is shot at my house and then my friend Ted Sarandos, who runs Netflix, everybody thought they shot it at his house,” said the actor.
Of course, the royals aren’t the only famous people who call the beach town home. “When Oprah moved in, that began the sort of resurgence of Montecito,” Lowe admitted. “Now that the royals are here: The good news is property values go up, the bad news is the line is longer at Starbucks.”
‘Here’s my thing and I have no idea: I think they just plain old shot it at Oprah’s,’ Lowe explained. ‘I swear to you, and they just said it was a mystery location.’
The 57-year-old explained that he had not rented out his home for filming and also proposed a different theory.
The royal couple addressed their contentious separation from the rest of the Prince’s family, as well as the impact it had on their relationship, during the meeting.
…What We Learned From Meghan and Harry’s Interview
The interview came as a surprise to learn that it featured a host of controversial disclosures about the pair and their tumultuous friendship with the British royal family when it aired Sunday night.
Before the interview aired, previews of the dialogue between Markle, Harry, and Winfrey suggested that no subject would be off-limits. Markle had declared, “Yes, I’m ready to talk.” She seems to have followed through with her vow.
The former royal couple opened up about their time with “The Firm” (as the British Royals are known), raised questions about bullying at Buckingham Palace, and announced the gender of their second child in their candid interview with the iconic host.
They have discussed the sex of their soon-to-arrive second child, personal mental health issues, and racially inflammatory remarks reportedly made by an anonymous member of the royal circle.
Meghan said that her life as a royal had driven her to suicidal thoughts.
Archie, unlike other grandchildren at Buckingham Palace, was not granted a royal title at birth, according to Markle. The ex-royals have announced that their second child will be a girl.
The interview served as a warning that Harry and Meghan aren’t afraid to speak about their mental health struggles, and their reactions to Ms. Winfrey’s questions underscored a message they seemed eager to send to the world: they would continue to do work close to what they did as part of the royal family in some capacity or another.
The tv special drew a lot of attention in the newspapers and drew a lot of criticism from politicians and the general public.
Meghan confessed to feeling like a prisoner when royal agents have her driver’s license, passport, and other personal information.
