The Queen has ordered that Prince Harry and Prince William be separated in the funeral procession behind the coffin of their grandpa, Prince Philip.

Both estranged brothers are among a small group of close family members who will accompany the Duke of Edinburgh’s corpse.

As they make their way to St George’s Chapel, the brothers will ‘sandwich’ cousin Peter Phillips, who will stand between them.

Following Harry and Meghan Markle’s choice to leave the royal family, the royal burial will bring the two brothers together for the first time in a year.

Some may view the unexpected turn of events as a lost chance to demonstrate family togetherness in the aftermath of Prince Philip’s death. Others questioned if the princes were kept separated on purpose at their request.

The Queen decided on “each and every” aspect Philip’s funeral and has demanded that nothing “detract from what the day is about, commemorating the extraordinary life of her husband,” sources claim.

‘This is a funeral [and] we will not be drawn into those perceptions of drama. The arrangements have been agreed and reflect Her Majesty’s wishes,’ said a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace.

When Philip’s coffin is carried inside St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, William will go first, as the royal family enters in pairs.

William and Harry’s last royal engagement together was in March 2020, but they did not talk or make eye contact.

Following rumors of the brothers’ feud, Harry earlier told ITV that he and William were ‘on different paths.’

Relations were strained further by the couple’s dramatic interview with Oprah Winfrey last month, during which they insulted senior royals while Philip, who died on Friday at the age of 99, was in hospital.

The Duke of Cambridge told reporters that “we are not a racist family” after the couple claimed a senior royal questioned how dark Archie’s complexion would be before his birth.

It had been privately anticipated that the death of their beloved grandpa, whom both men adored, would begin the process of reconciliation.

However, the Queen has already approved arrangements for the brothers to be reunited during Philip’s burial.

To save Harry from humiliation, the queen has ordered that senior royals refrain from wearing military uniforms during the burial.

Harry faced the prospect of becoming the only member of the family to be dressed in a suit after being stripped of his honorary titles when he resigned as a senior royal.

Prince Philip had been engaged in the preparation of his burial for at least two decades, but owing to Covid, his wife was compelled to modify it to a more modest affair.
