Prince William hosts tea party solo as Kate Middleton self-isolates following COVID exposure
On Monday, Prince William held a tea party celebrating the United Kingdom’s public health care without his scheduled cohost, wife Kate Middleton.
The Duke of Cambridge, 39, held the NHS Big Tea celebration in the grounds of Buckingham Palace in London to celebrate National Health Service employees and frontline workers.
“Last week, The Duchess of Cambridge came into contact with someone who has subsequently tested posted for COVID-19,” a palace spokesman told Fox News on Monday.
“Her Royal Highness is not experiencing any symptoms, but is following all relevant government guidelines and is self-isolating at home.”
William was spotted mingling with guests at the special event, which marked the NHS’s 73rd anniversary.

The news came just before William and Middleton, 39, were about to attend a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, according to the source.
The “Big Tea” is one of several events taking place in homes, hospitals, schools, and communal spaces throughout the nation to offer communities a chance to relax, reflect, and thank health care workers and volunteers for their contributions during the epidemic.
The prince, who is second in line to the British throne, was spotted at one point taking over as conductor while the band performed music.
William met with respiratory ward nurses, counselors, care workers, and non-clinical staff members such as catering managers and cleaning coordinators.
The royal party was planned so that William and Kate, both 39, could pay homage to NHS workers who had “gone above and beyond to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to their office.
In May, Kate and William both got their first doses of the coronavirus vaccination.
The royal couple became joint patrons of NHS Charities Together, an organization comprised of 240 NHS member charities throughout the United Kingdom, in December 2020.
According to several accounts, the mother of three was exposed to the virus on Friday. She spent some of her time that day at the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
William was diagnosed with the illness in April 2020 and was said to have “struggled to breathe.” He attempted to keep the news of his sickness out of the public at the time since his father, Prince Charles, and the country’s prime leader, Boris Johnson, had both just been diagnosed with the fatal virus.
Middleton must isolate herself at home for 10 days after being exposed, according to British government rules.
