Prince Harry’s royal title removed from Diana exhibition

The royal title of Prince Harry will be removed from the credits of a Kensington Palace exhibition featuring his mother Diana, Princess of Wales’s dresses.

The Duke of Sussex was also demoted on the Royals’ website just days ago.

Placards at the Kensington Palace exhibit last week said they were dresses worn by Diana as ‘Lent by HRH the Duke of Cambridge and HRH the Duke of Sussex’.

The Royal Collection Trust, which managed the loan of the dresses, has since stated that the labels were “incorrect” and will be altered due to a “administrative error.”

Harry’s full name before leaving the royal family was His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex.

While Harry and Meghan Markle kept their HRH titles once their royal duties ended in April 2020, they have agreed not to use them in an official capacity.

The pair, however, continue to use their titles of Duke and Duchess.

The revisions reflect the ongoing sensitivity surrounding Harry’s departure from the royal family and his migration to California with wife Meghan and baby Archie.

The exhibition, which debuted on June 3 and will run through the new year, was made possible by the loan of Prince William and Harry’s late mother’s wedding gown and honeymoon suit.

The temporary exhibition explores what it’s like to design a royal client’s costume.

For the first time in 25 years, Diana’s wedding gown, created by the Emanuels, is on display alongside Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother’s 1937 coronation gown, which she wore as King George VI’s consort.

The dress Diana wore when she married Prince Charles in 1981, along with its 25-foot sequin-encrusted train that dramatically filled the aisle of St Paul’s Cathedral, “is now among the most famous in bridal history” according to organizers.

It has a fitted bodice with ancient Carrickmacross lace panels layered in the center both front and back, which belonged to Queen Mary.

The pink outfit with ruffle detail made by Bellville Sassoon designers, which Diana wore on her honeymoon, is also on exhibit. She wore it on other occasions as well, including the royal couple’s trip of Australia in 1983.

Last year, Harry and Meghan left the royal family and relocated to a £11 million property in Montecito, California, in order to become financially independent.

Since then, they’ve allegedly struck agreements for hundreds of millions of pounds with Netflix and Spotify.

The Sussexes were also demoted on the Royal Family’s official website, just before changes to the signage at the exhibition to remove Harry’s HRH style.

Previously, Harry and Meghan were toward the top of the page, just below Prince William and Kate.

However, they have now been pushed below Prince Edward, Sophie, Princess Anne, and Prince Andrew.

Following a succession of high-profile public statements, many have questioned whether the couple’s royal titles should be withdrawn.

The couple made stunning charges of racism against the Firm in their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, as Meghan claimed a senior royal – who has not been identified – questioned what color their baby Archie’s skin would be.

During the US presidential election, Harry and Meghan chastised Donald Trump and gave moral support to the Black Lives Matter movement last year.

The Duke will return to Britain next month for the inauguration of a Diana statue, his second visit since Megxit.
