Prince Harry promises ‘wholly truthful memoir’ about his life
Prince Harry, one of the world’s most well-known people, will release a memoir next year that he describes as “wholly truthful.”
It will chronicle his whole public life, including his military service, marriage, and parenthood.
The memoir is “the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him,” according to the publisher. The book’s proceeds will be donated to charity.
The book, which will be published by Penguin Random House, will be written “not as the prince” he once was, but as the man he has “become,” according to Harry.
He said, “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.
“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first hand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”
The financial details were kept under wraps.
Random House and Random House Canada will publish the book in print and digital versions in the United States and Canada, respectively, in late 2022.
The biography comes amid Harry’s apparent increased willingness to talk about his personal life, providing a rare glimpse behind the scenes of a popular person.
He and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, made international headlines in early 2020 when they announced their intention to leave the royal family and migrate to the United States.
Their Oprah Winfrey interview on CBS in March drew 17.1 million viewers on average.
The conversation struck a chord with many who follow the mysteries around Buckingham Palace. Meghan, who was pregnant with the couple’s second child at the time, said she “didn’t want to be alive anymore” since her life as a British royal was so lonely.
They both claimed a lack of support from other members of the royal family, leading them to make the decision to prioritize their family’s well-being. The experience also helped Harry acquire a greater understanding of the racist overtones of the attacks on his wife, according to Harry.
Harry later revealed in the Apple TV+ series how his own mental well-being was damaged for years after his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, died.
As an adult, Harry told Winfrey, he used excessive booze and drugs to cope.
Markus Dohle, CEO of Penguin Random House said: “All of us at Penguin Random House are thrilled to publish Prince Harry’s literary memoir and have him join the world-renowned leaders, icons, and change-makers we have been privileged to publish over the years.”
“Prince Harry has harnessed his extraordinary life experience as a prince, a soldier, and a knowledgeable advocate for social issues, establishing himself as a global leader recognized for his courage and openness.
“It is for that reason we’re excited to publish his honest and moving story.”
It is the first royal memoir since the Duke of Windsor and his ghostwriter released A King’s Story in 1951, detailing why he abdicated the throne to marry American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
