According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have signed a four-book contract with Penguin Random House.

The Duke of Sussex’s memoir, revealed earlier this week, is only the tip of the iceberg, since it will be one of four published – and it will come during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.

“The final contract was actually for a four-book deal, with Harry writing another ‘when his granny dies,’” according to the Mail, citing “an impeccably-placed source in the publishing industry.”

Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, will publish a ‘wellness’ book as part of her agreement with Penguin Random House. The title and author of the fourth book are unknown.

“Meghan will write a wellness-type book and people are unsure what the fourth will be.”

Harry, 36, said that his book will be a “first-hand account” of his life so far, and that he would discuss his “mistakes” and “lessons” learnt.

In terms of the memoir’s substance, Prince Harry says that he will discuss many areas of his life. “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,” stated the Duke.

A source told the Daily Mail, “He [Harry] conducted negotiations – he had a very ‘take it or leave it’ attitude.

“His starting price was $25million (£18million) and the final figure was way north of that, possibly as much as $35-40million (£25-29million).”

According to one source, while handling talks from his Santa Barbara residence, Prince Harry “shocked” publishers with his demeanor.

‘Those involved were actually very shocked by his approach, which was to look at them coldly and state his demands – $25million.”

Harry’s memoir is co-written by the Duke and ghostwriter JR Moehringer. It  has yet to be given a title.

Meanwhile, a Buckingham Palace source informed People that Prince Harry recently talked informally with the royal family about the publishing of his book. The spokesman also said that Harry would not be required to seek permission to write a book.

“Harry would not be expected to obtain permission from Buckingham Palace for the project. Any clarification about the book would be a question for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

However, a second source informed Page Six that Harry has just one book planned, which is the one that has already been announced.

According to sources, it would be “appalling” to connect anything to the Queen’s death, as the Mail claimed one of Harry’s books would be.

According to Page Six, Harry’s $20 million book is not intended as a “f–k you” to the royal family. When the agreement was revealed, it caused a stir at Buckingham Palace, but the Duke of Sussex believes he is just expressing his “truth” with the book, which is set to be released in late 2022.

“In an intimate and heartfelt memoir from one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time, Prince Harry will share, for the very first time, the definitive account of the experiences, adventures, losses, and life lessons that have helped shape him,” according to the publisher’s blurb.
