Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s 20-Week Parental Leave Raises Eyebrows
Sky News Australia’s Paul Murray couldn’t help but burst into laughter upon hearing the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would reportedly be taking 20 weeks of parental leave following the birth of their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
Joining in on the mockery, his fellow news hosts labeled the couple as “the ginger and the whinger,” leaving the studio in fits of laughter.
During his late-night show, Murray brought up the topic of parental leave and bluntly questioned, “What are they taking time off from?”
Rita Panery, another host, responded with a touch of sarcasm, saying, “It’s the most beautiful thing, you know.
I wish them luck with the new kid.

But what is this paternity thing about?
How many times can you regurgitate the same story of being privileged but feeling hard done by?
It seems like their full-time job is just bashing the royal family and accusing them of racism.
So, I don’t know what they are taking leave from, but good luck to them.”
Murray then sarcastically advised Prince Harry and Meghan to enjoy their “holiday from your holiday.”
Corey Bernardi, invited to share his thoughts, chimed in with a jab, referring to them as “the ginger and the whinger.”
He suggested that perhaps they should take a break from social media, adding that if they were to be canceled from all platforms, the world would soon forget about them.
According to Meghan Markle’s biographer and royal editor Omid Scooby, the couple had stated that they would be taking several months off after the birth of Lilibet.
Scooby mentioned that Archwell, the company run by Harry and Meghan, offers 20 weeks of paternal leave, so it is likely that the couple will follow suit.
In the United Kingdom, new dads are only entitled to two weeks of paid paternal leave.
Traditionally, royals return to their duties shortly after giving birth.
Prince William took two weeks off following the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte but only took two days off for Prince Louis.
Similarly, Prince Harry resumed his duties just three days after Archie’s birth when he visited the Invictus Games.
