The Duchess of Sussex has revealed that she is developing a new animated series for Netflix.

Meghan Markle is the producer of the Pearl, which many speculate was inspired by herself.

Pearl is a family series about a 12-year-old girl who learns to come into her power and finds inspiration from powerful women throughout history. Along with David Furnish (Rocketman), Carolyn Soper (Tangled), Liz Garbus (I’ll Be Gone in the Dark), and Dan Cogan, Markle will executive produce the series (The Apollo). The showrunner will be Amanda Rynda (The Loud House).

Despite the positive news, some Twitter users maintain that it’s “always about her.”

Meghan’s name means pearl, which lends credence to the notion.

Trending:

“Meghan is a girl’s name meaning ‘pearl’ that is related to the Greek name Margaret and the Welsh name Megan,” according to thebump.com.

The series was developed by the Duchess of Sussex under the cover of the production business she co-founded with her husband, Prince Harry.

‘Did you know that Meghan’s name means ‘pearl’ in Welsh and Irish?’ one fan tweeted.

“Read someone saying Meghan means Pearl in Welsh and Greek.. and I also think she’s inspired by her 11 year old self. What an imagination ”

“Told you so. It’s all about her. I won’t watch it. Let Elton John and his partner watch it,” one wrote.

Another person posted a screenshot from thebump.com with the words “her mind” next to a heart-eyed emoji, explaining the link between “pearl” and “Meghan.”

Another said: “Really? Meghan making it all about her? Who would have ever guessed?”

“Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to overcome life’s daily challenges. I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history,” Markle said of the series.

David, Sir Elton John’s husband, also posted a message on Instagram.

“I am delighted that we are finally able to announce this exciting animated series. Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and I are deeply passionate about bringing the inspirational and positive stories of extraordinary women from around the world to a global audience of all ages. The team collaborating on the series are first class, and Netflix are the perfect partner.”

It comes after it was revealed that Harry and Meghan’s LA careers were about to hit a new snag.

Last year, Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell Productions inked a multi-year contract with Netflix to create documentaries, feature films, scripted television episodes, and children’s programming. One of these projects is Heart of Invictus, a docuseries about Prince Harry’s global adaptive sports tournament.
