Meghan gives birth to baby girl, Lilibet Diana
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed their second child, a lovely baby girl.
Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is named after the Queen and the duke’s mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
Both mother and baby are healthy and well, according to a statement from the couple.
A statement from the couple’s press secretary said: “It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.”
“Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11.40am in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California.

“She weighed 7lbs 11oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.
“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.
“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.
“This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
“The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”
She is Queen Elizabeth’s 11th great-grandchild and eighth in line to the throne.
The new baby is Archie’s little sister, born in 2019, as well as a new cousin for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
However, because the Sussexes live in California and have strained relations with the Royal Family, it is unclear when or if the new addition will meet the queen and the rest of the royals.
Her birth in the United States makes her the most senior royal in the line of succession to be born outside of the United Kingdom.
It also makes her a dual US-UK citizen, which means that when she grows up, the youngest Sussex might become US President while simultaneously being in line for the British throne.
Meghan experienced a devastating miscarriage last year, so the wonderful news comes as a welcome relief.
“On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili,” the couple said on their Archewell website.
“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
Prince Harry and Meghan married in Windsor Castle in May 2018 and had their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, a year later.
They left their positions as senior working royals in March 2020 and are now residing in California.
