Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their second child together, a baby girl, and they are thrilled. The pair made the announcement on Valentine’s Day, with a spokesperson saying the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “overjoyed.”

According to a source, Meghan and Harry want their daughter’s name “to have meaning” and that “there are some top picks for names but nothing concrete.”

“We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child ,” the couple’s spokesperson said at the time. The projected due date was not given, but when Harry and Meghan appeared on Oprah Winfrey for a primetime interview, they confirmed that they are having a baby girl, who would come this summer.

However, there is a fan belief that Meghan and Harry might name their child Lily, a shortened form of Queen Elizabeth’s nickname Lilibet. This is the nickname Prince Harry’s late grandfather, Prince Philip, gave the Queen, so if the Sussexes go with Lily, it would be a lovely way for Harry to remember both of his grandparents.

In July 2019, following the birth of his first son, Archie, Harry revealed to environmentalist Jane Goodall for Vogue’s British edition that he and Meghan wanted two children “maximum!”

Meghan and Harry discussed increasing their adorable family during their bombshell interview with Oprah. “To have a boy, then a girl—what more can you ask for?” Harry said, explaining that he felt “grateful” upon learning that he and Meghan were expecting a daughter: “Having any child, any one or two would have been amazing, but to have a boy and then a girl…now we’ve got our family and we’ve got four of us.”

“We can’t wait for the big day, sometime this summer,” Oprah added as the call came to a close.

Meghan did not accompany Prince Harry to the United Kingdom for Prince Philip’s funeral in April because she had not been medically approved for travel by her doctor, most likely due to how far along she is in her pregnancy.

Despite being born in the United States, People says that Meghan and Harry’s baby, like her brother, Archie, will be eligible for British citizenship. Why is this so? It’s simple: their father is a British citizen! And an actual prince.

Although there are no specifics on her due date, Meghan told Oprah Winfrey during their interview that the baby will arrive in the summer.

Meghan and Harry have been extremely vocal in the public about their desire to start a family together over the years. Harry revealed his desire to have children in an interview with the BBC shortly after the pair announced their engagement.
