Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski has revealed that she has faced criticism in her acting career due to the size of her breasts.

In a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar Australia, Ratajkowski discussed how she has been turned down for roles because of her perceived sexiness.

She stated, “There’s this thing that happens to me: ‘Oh, she’s too sexy.’ It’s like an anti-woman thing—people don’t want to work with me because my boobs are too big. What’s wrong with boobs? They’re a beautiful, feminine thing that needs to be celebrated. Like, who cares? They are great big; they are great small. Why should that be an issue?”

Ratajkowski has acted in a number of films, including the 2015 drama We Are Your Friends, as well as smaller roles in Gone Girl and Netflix’s anthology series Easy.

She has also made brief appearances on the TV show iCarly.

The actress also discussed the societal expectations placed on women in the entertainment industry and how they are often criticized for being confident and opinionated about politics.

Ratajkowski wrote in Glamour, “Our society tells women we can’t be, say, sexy and confident and opinionated about politics. This would allow us too much power. Instead our society asks us to declare and defend our motivations, which makes us second-guess them, all while men do what they please without question.”

Ratajkowski is not the only actress to have faced criticism over her body. Amanda Seyfried has talked about being deemed too “overweight” for certain roles, while Ashley Benson and Jennifer Lawrence have also faced similar criticisms.

On the other hand, male actors such as Chris Pratt and Ryan Gosling have also experienced body shaming in their careers.

Pratt has spoken out about how casting directors thought he was not slender enough for most films, while Gosling was fired from a film for gaining too much weight.

This pattern of body shaming is unfortunate and perpetuates harmful beauty standards in the entertainment industry.

Ratajkowski has chosen to embrace her body and celebrate it, while also advocating for organizations like Planned Parenthood.

She expresses frustration with the criticism that women face for owning their bodies and has stated that she will continue to speak out about these issues.
