This week’s Garter Day was a historic moment for King Charles III, marking his first presiding over the event.

However, it also marked the retirement of the late Queen’s favorite clerk, Bishop David Connor.

Bishop David is the Queen’s spiritual guide, her most trusted priest, and the man who conducted her funeral.

He is finally bowing out after 25 years of service at the age of 76, even though he should have left at 70, the usual Church of England retirement age.

It is understood that the Queen personally asked him to stay to see out her days.

The role of the Dean of Windsor is vital for the spiritual well-being of the monarch, and it’s thought that the late Majesty didn’t want a change so late on in life.

Bishop David was one of the longest-serving Deans of Windsor, and the position is always filled by a cleric personally chosen by the monarch.

With Elizabeth II and Prince Philip spending their final years at Windsor due to the Covid lockdown, the Dean became even more important to them.

Many people assume that it’s the Archbishop of Canterbury who comes closest to being the monarch’s mentor, but it’s usually the Dean of Windsor who plays that role.

The current Archbishop Justin Welby did help spiritually prepare the King for his coronation.

According to a source close to Bishop David Connor, he spent a lot of time confiding in the late Queen.

She revealed how she missed her American grandchild but really didn’t want to contact him.

She knew if she called or texted him, Meghan would sell the story to the tabloids.

In addition, the fact that Meghan was not invited to the coronation of King Charles followed the Queen’s final wish.

Before her death, Her Majesty instructed Charles to ban Meghan from attending royal events, including the coronation.

Harry was the only one allowed to return.

The Queen’s personal feelings loomed large in this decision.

In the famous words of the late Queen, “Thank goodness Meghan isn’t coming,” spread as the feeling of booking a palace when the entire world received notice that Meghan was not attending the coronation.

At this stage, there was little doubt about the palace’s feelings about her.

As harmful as Meghan’s actions in the last year have been, a source close to the royals tells me that much of the damage was already done, and that the personal feelings of the late Queen loom large.

According to my source, the Queen saw through Meghan Markle and remarked that she was evil during a drinks reception at a dinner the late monarch hosted at Balmoral in August last year.

In 2020, after Megxit was announced, the Queen visited MI5.

There was a lot of talk because apparently it’s strange for the Queen to make a point of visiting MI5 or MI6 on a personal matter.

A royal insider leaked that it had something to do with the Harkles and with Meghan specifically.

The Queen had been briefed on Meghan’s past behavior as well as crimes and underhanded actions taken while she was dating and engaged to Harry.

Meghan’s behavior in the past and while she was in London was far worse than we know.

Earlier, Queen Elizabeth II was left surprised after Meghan Markle dismissed her advice about settling into life as a royal.

The late monarch told Meghan that it would be worthwhile for her to speak to Sophie Rhys-Jones, now the Duchess of Edinburgh, who once found herself in a similar situation after marrying Prince Edward.

The Queen believed that Sophie could have acted as an advisor to Meghan.

However, the author said Meghan made it clear that she’d make her own decisions, turning down the Queen’s alleged offer.
