Young Royals Pay Tribute to Beloved Gangan at State Funeral
In a display of bravery and devotion, the young royals, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, honored their beloved great-grandmother, Gangan, at her state funeral on Monday.
The solemn occasion also revealed the new surname for the royal siblings, shedding light on their evolving roles within the royal family.
Previously known as George, Charlotte, and Louis Cambridge, the children will now carry the surname Wales, following their parents’ newly bestowed title.
This change was first noticed on the Queen’s funeral order of service, where the young royals were listed as George, Charlotte, and Louis Wales.
It is worth noting that both their father, Prince William, and their uncle, Prince Harry, grew up using the surname Wales.

Royal expert Angela Mollard highlighted the significance of this transition, particularly for Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Not only has she taken on a new role herself, but she also has the responsibility of teaching her young children, aged nine, seven, and four, about their changed surnames.
Mollard emphasized that for children who have already learned to spell their names, this adjustment may take time to settle in.
This development follows King Charles III’s announcement appointing Kate and William as the Prince and Princess of Wales during his inaugural address as monarch.
Kate becomes the first royal since Princess Diana to hold the title of Princess of Wales.
King Charles expressed his pride in creating William the Prince of Wales, stating that he and Catherine will continue to inspire and lead national conversations.
During the state funeral, Prince George and Princess Charlotte captivated the nation as they played significant roles in bidding farewell to their great-grandmother.
As the youngest members of the royal family, they joined approximately 2,000 guests in mourning the loss of Gan Gan.
The siblings, great-grandchildren of the Queen, walked behind her coffin through Westminster Abbey, participating in a solemn procession that was witnessed by a global audience through television broadcasts.
In the afternoon, George and Charlotte also attended the committal service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
Their presence throughout the day showcased their maturity and composure during this solemn occasion.
Meanwhile, there has been recent controversy surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children, Archie and Lilibet.
Despite being appointed Prince and Princess by King Charles III in the near future, it has been revealed that they will not receive the HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles.
This decision has reportedly left Harry and Meghan furious, as they pointed out that Prince Andrew’s daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, have HRH status despite not being working royals.
The agreement reached is that Archie and Lilibet can hold the title of Prince and Princess, but not HRH, due to their non-working royal status.
The Sussexes are disappointed with this outcome, considering the differing treatment of other members of the royal family.
As the royal family continues to navigate these changes, the world watches with anticipation to see how the younger generation will shape the future of the monarchy.
The young royals’ display of devotion and maturity at Gangan’s state funeral serves as a poignant reminder of their role within the royal family and their commitment to honoring tradition while embracing change.
