The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby reveals that a racy s** scene between the Queen and Phillip was CUT
Vanessa Kirby, who played Princess Margaret in the first two series of The Crown, recently revealed that a racy s** scene between Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip was cut from the series.
Speaking to Dolly Alderton on the Love Stories podcast, the actress stated that the scene was removed because the writers felt that viewers “didn’t need to see that.”
She also disclosed that a similarly explicit scene between her character and Matthew Goode’s Anthony Armstrong-Jones was filmed but never released.
According to Vanessa, the scene in question featured Queen Elizabeth, played by Claire Foy, and Matt Smith’s Prince Philip during their Commonwealth tour in South Africa for the first series.
Vanessa said, “There was a s** scene between Elizabeth and Philip in the first season.
Trending:
I think they were in South Africa filming, and they were like ‘I just don’t think anyone wants to see the Queen having s**’.”
Although viewers never got to see the steamy s** scene, there were several shots of rear n^dty featuring Matt’s version of The Duke Of Edinburgh.
Vanessa then revealed that there were plans for even racier scenes featuring Princess Margaret and Anthony Armstrong-Jones, which would have featured in the episode when the couple finally got engaged and eventually married.
She added, “There was one (s** scene) written in The Crown, in episode seven of (season two).
We had long discussions about what it should be, and it just became clear that to titillate was not the aim.”
Vanessa played the role of Princess Margaret in the first two series of The Crown, and the role will be taken over by Helena Bonham Carter for the upcoming third series.
Olivia Colman will take over from Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth, while Ben Daniels will play Anthony Armstrong-Jones and Tobias Menzies the role of Prince Philip.
Margaret’s marriage to 1st Earl Of Snowdon is expected to play a prominent role in the series, as things eventually turned violent between the couple before they split in 1976.
The Crown series three will be released on Netflix on Sunday 17th November.
The marriage between Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon is expected to be a major storyline, documenting the sour end to their relationship.
Despite the removal of the racy s** scenes, there is still plenty of drama to be had in the upcoming series.
Fans eagerly anticipate the return of The Crown, with new cast members and storylines to keep them entertained.
