Spotify has officially ended its partnership with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Archewell Audio.

The audio production company, which was launched last year, was responsible for creating the podcast series Archetypes.

Unfortunately, the series was not a success, and as a result, Spotify has decided not to renew it for a second season.

The decision to end the partnership was mutual, and both parties released a joint statement expressing their pride for the series they made together.

However, it’s no secret that Archetypes was an 18 million dollar flop, and the Sussexes have lost a significant amount of money as a result.

Meghan and Harry signed a $20 million deal with Spotify for the project in late 2020, but according to insiders, they did not meet the productivity benchmark required to receive the full payout.

This news is not surprising, considering that the couple only contributed one hour per week each to the Archewell Foundation charity situation, as confirmed by their recent charity tax return for last year.

Spotify is currently making changes and revamping its output, and the decision to end the partnership with Archewell Audio is part of this process.

The audio company has struggled to make podcasts profitable despite their popularity among listeners.

Earlier this year, Spotify laid off 500 employees, and more recently, they laid off 200 more.

Meghan and Harry are reportedly planning to create more podcasts and find a new home for their series.

However, given the failure of Archetypes, it’s unclear if any platform will be willing to invest in their future projects.

The talent agency that Meghan signed with, WME, claims that she is still developing more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform, but the details on that remain unknown.

This news comes after sources close to the couple claimed that they would stop making tell-all Netflix documentaries, publishing memoirs, and sitting down for interviews that bash the royal family as they have “nothing left to say.”

However, rumors persist that Meghan is writing her own memoir detailing her time in the royal family.

Despite the failure of Archetypes, discussions to publish more content from Archewell are ongoing.

There are suggestions that Meghan could soon look to bring back her wellness and lifestyle blog, The Tig, in a bid to rival Gwyneth Paltrow’s group website, which was reportedly worth 200 million pounds.

However, it’s unlikely that The Tig will be able to rival Paltrow’s group, given the lack of success of Archetypes.

Since officially leaving the royal family and moving to California in 2020, Meghan and Harry have pursued a number of different avenues to bring in revenue, including Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, and their docuseries with Netflix, Harry and Meghan.

Despite the loss of their partnership with Spotify, the couple is still worth millions and will likely continue to pursue new ventures in the future.
