Prince Charles receives GQ Lifetime Achievement Award for Philanthropy
At the GQ Men of the Year Awards 2018 in London, the Prince of Wales won the Editor’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Services to Philanthropy.
The heir to the throne was present at the star-studded event held at the Tate Modern in London.
During the course of the year, the annual event honors individuals and women who have contributed to create the world’s cultural landscape via style, politics, entertainment, and sport.
Dylan Jones, the Editor of British GQ magazine, handed it to His Royal Highness.
‘I’m grateful to Dylan to give me a preview of my obituary,’ the prince joked, thanking GQ’s editor.

The prince said: “When I was told of GQ’s wish to give me an award, I felt sure there must have been some kind of mistake and I thought it must be some sort of ill-deserved fashion award. Particularly because in fashion terms I’m like a stopped clock, in other words I’m fashionable once every 25 years.”
In GQ’s Best Dressed Men of 2018, the prince was placed 20th, ahead of David Beckham.
“The Prince of Wales has given his service to charities and philanthropic endeavours with such steadfast revolve, clarity of purpose and dedication to others, at home and on the world stage,” Dylan Jones said of the prince’s charity.
“We are particularly honoured to be able to dedicate the Prince of Wales with this award during British GQ’s 30th Anniversary this year.”
‘I’m enormously grateful for this award and I see its something I can throw at a burglar,’ the prince joked about the size of the trophy.
He added: ‘It wasn’t easy at the start when trying to set up these charities and raise money. Spending money on worthwhile projects is relatively easy but making it is harder.
‘There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the difference you can make to young people’s lives.’
Charles is the longest-serving heir to the throne of the United Kingdom.
After over 50 years of charity activity, he is a patron or president of over 400 causes.
His charity organizations raise £150 million a year and focus on issues like as providing opportunity for disadvantaged young people, the environment, and religious tolerance.
Kylie Minogue, Kate Beckinsale, and Bodyguard star Richard Madden were among the celebrities that attended the event at the Tate Modern in London.
