When Kristen Bell first met her husband, Dax Shepard, there was no magic.

In a preview of her forthcoming interview with Willie Geist, Bell, 39, recounts meeting her now-husband for the first time, confessing she wasn’t instantly drawn to Shepard, 44.

The “Frozen 2” star stated that when she first met her now-husband and father of her two children at an intimate dinner party for a producer, all she could think about was how much he talked.

‘The producer of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Shauna Robertson, who’s Judd Apatow‘s previous producing partner, had a birthday dinner, like 10 people, at a sushi restaurant,’ she recalled.

‘I had just gotten out of a long term relationship two months prior… he had just gotten out of a long relationship.

‘We were sitting at a table,’ she continued. ‘The only thing I remember is that he talked so much. This guy can talk.’

Kristen also joked that she didn’t know who Dax was and added, “I’m like, ‘Is that one of the guys from Jackass or something?’ And then we left. There were no sparks whatsoever.”

Bell, nevertheless, grabbed Shepard’s attention during their first encounter as she was discussing a terrific deal she’d just acquired. Shepard told guest Zach Braff in a 2018 edition of his podcast “Armchair Expert:” “She was talking about some deal she got at Target, and she was so enthusiastic about the savings she got at Target, and I thought, ‘Well, this person is very cute and interesting.’”

Two weeks later, they ran into one other again during a hockey game. According to Bell, it was at that point that they became friends. “We’re both from Detroit and Red Wings fans. We saw each other at the game [and] started to flirt,” she said. “The day after that I get a text that says, ‘Hi, my name is Dax. I violated your privacy and got your number from Shauna. How do you feel about that?’ And I was like, ‘Excuse me? You sound stimulating.’”

“He’s so bold and that was my kind of person,” she adds. “I was like, okay, starting it off with a really good joke that makes me feel, like, butterflies. I fell in love with him way before he fell in love with me.”

We all know what happened next: the two married and now have two children, Delta Bell, 4, and Lincoln, 6. However, both Bell and Shepard have been open about their relationship’s ups and downs, as well as what it takes to make their marriage work.

Bell and Shepard have long been dubbed “#RelationshipGoals.” In October, the couple celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary, a milestone that had entirely escaped their minds. Bell posted a photo of the two on Instagram at the time, along with the caption, “We were reminded by family and friends that at some point last week, it was our 5-year wedding anniversary. In truth, neither of us remember which day.”
