In a new docuseries titled “The Me You Can’t See” on Apple TV Plus, Prince Harry has opened up about his personal battles with mental health and shed light on his experiences behind palace walls.

The Duke of Sussex, while discussing his own struggles, highlighted how the death of his mother in 1997 has haunted him for years, particularly when he is in London.

However, he also attributed much of his unprocessed grief to the royal family, stating that he did not grow up in an environment that encouraged discussions about seeking therapy.

Despite this, he sought counseling in his thirties as a means to heal from his past.

Prince Harry expressed his disappointment in the lack of dialogue within his family about Princess Diana’s traumatic death.

He revealed that no one was talking about it, and he was advised to play the game of royal life by suppressing his emotions.

Interestingly, just four years ago, Harry praised his father for his support in the aftermath of Diana’s fatal car crash.

In a 2017 BBC documentary called “Diana Seven Days,” he acknowledged Charles’ efforts to protect and care for him and his brother.

Similarly, in a 2018 BBC documentary celebrating his father’s 70th birthday, Harry commended Charles for stepping up and being there for them, especially during the time leading up to Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.

However, since leaving the royal family last year, Prince Harry seems to have developed a different perspective.

In his interview with Oprah Winfrey, he criticized Charles for perpetuating the cycle of suffering, recounting how his father used to tell him and Prince William that their experiences would mirror his own.

Harry strongly disagreed with this approach, asserting that parents should strive to ensure their children do not endure the same pain they did.

He reiterated this sentiment in a recent appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast, “Armchair Expert,” where he discussed breaking the “genetic cycle of pain” inherited from his parents and grandparents.

Prince Harry has not shied away from directing pointed comments towards Charles in recent months.

During his tell-all CBS special with Oprah, he revealed that his father had stopped taking his calls after he made the decision to step down from royal duties.

However, a Channel 5 documentary titled “Charles and Harry, Father and Son Divided” shed light on a possible reason for this estrangement.

Royal commentator Emily Andrews suggested that Harry’s repeated requests for financial assistance may have led to Charles avoiding his calls.

Charles, known for his aversion to confrontation, simply chose to disengage.

Although they did resume communication shortly after, their relationship remains strained.

Despite the tension, Prince Harry expressed a desire to mend his bond with Charles at the end of the CBS special.

However, his recent comments are believed to have further strained their relationship.

Harry stated that he will always love his father and that healing their relationship is one of his priorities.

While the Duke of Sussex did have a conversation with Charles when he returned to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral in April, it appears that the ongoing tension between them remains unresolved.

Prince Harry’s candid revelations about his mental health struggles and his complex relationship with the royal family have captivated audiences worldwide.

As he continues to navigate his own healing journey, the impact of his words and actions on the dynamics within the monarchy remains a topic of intense interest and speculation.
