Following the heartbreaking demise of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96, significant changes have unfolded within the royal family.

These changes extend beyond personal and emotional aspects, affecting titles and roles as well.

Princess Beatrice, one of the queen’s eight grandchildren, has experienced a notable shift in her responsibilities since her grandmother’s passing.

As the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, Beatrice has now become a councillor of state.

The role of a councillor of state entails acting on behalf of King Charles III when instructed to do so.

Beatrice joins a select group of four individuals who possess this authority.

Her new duties involve participating in privy council meetings, signing documents, and receiving the credentials of new ambassadors.

Prior to Queen Elizabeth II’s demise, the four councillors of state were her two sons, Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, alongside Charles’ two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

However, with Charles assuming his position as the reigning monarch, a new councillor of state needed to be appointed.

Previously, it was understood that the councillors of state would step in for the queen if she were unable to fulfill her duties due to illness or being abroad.

Beatrice will now be prepared to assume this responsibility for Charles moving forward.

She has been chosen due to her position as the highest-ranking candidate in the line of succession who is over 21 years old.

Presently, Princess Beatrice holds the ninth position in the order of inheriting the throne.

Despite not being part of the official line of succession, Camilla, Queen Consort and Charles’ wife of 17 years, is also eligible to act as a substitute for her husband if instructed to do so.

Recently, Beatrice’s husband, Italian Count Edo Marpelli Mozzi, shared a previously unseen image of the Queen and her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

He also provided insight into how he and Princess Beatrice were coping with the loss of Her Majesty.

Over the weekend, the granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth, along with other members of the royal family, were seen outside Balmoral Castle.

Princess Eugenie, Prince Andrew, Princess Anne, Prince Edward, Sophie Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor, Zara Tindall, and Peter Phillips were present.

The touching photographs captured the sisters finding solace in each other’s arms while gazing at the flowers left by the public in tribute to their grandmother.

Princess Eugenie was visibly moved, shedding tears as her father, Prince Andrew, offered comfort.

After attending a brief prayer service, the royals returned to Balmoral, dressed entirely in black.

The onlookers erupted into applause as they waved at the crowd.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie shared a close bond with their grandmother.

Unfortunately, they were unable to be present at the time of her passing.

Eugenie currently resides in Portugal with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, while Beatrice was unable to travel to Balmoral.

Queen Elizabeth passed away at Balmoral on Thursday at the age of 96.

Reports indicate that King Charles III and Princess Anne were by her side during her final moments.

Shortly after the palace announced her death, Charles released a statement expressing profound grief over the loss of his cherished mother.

He acknowledged that her absence would be deeply felt not only in the country, realms, and Commonwealth but also by countless people worldwide.
