Some of the most promising rising stars in the world of sports have become ambassadors for the renowned French luxury fashion brand, Dior.

Among these prestigious names is British tennis player Emma Radu Kainu, who recently signed an endorsement deal with the company founded by the iconic fashion designer Christian Dior.

Radu Kainu, who emerged as the 2021 US Open champion, had a challenging year on the WTA tour, being her first full season.

However, her hard work paid off as she earned a staggering £2.8 million from tennis alone in the 12 months leading up to May 2023, including a remarkable £1.8 million from her victorious US Open campaign.

But it was the £20 million from endorsements that propelled her total income to an astounding £22.8 million.

Now, Radu Kainu opens up about the pitfalls of fame and the negative aspects of the industry.

She reveals that she sometimes wishes she had never won the US Open in 2021 and expresses her frustration with individuals in the industry who take advantage of her due to her young age.

The pressure that accompanied her unexpected success forced her to mature rapidly.

“When I won, I was extremely naive,” she confesses to the Sunday Times.

She also warns others to be cautious, stating, “You have to be on guard because there are a lot of sharks out there.”

During an interview, Radu Kainu is asked about the lucrative endorsement deal she signed.

When questioned if it was beyond her control, she admits that she was aware of the company’s intention to profit from their reputation.

However, she emphasizes that she carefully considers and only aligns herself with brands that genuinely reflect the message and values she wants to convey to consumers.

The reporter delves further, inquiring about her thoughts on individuals who risk everything to secure lucrative contracts.

Radu Kainu expresses her disagreement, stating that she disapproves of those who are obsessed with fame, as they tend to be power-hungry and possess a false sense of self-esteem.

She believes that such individuals may resort to desperate measures, including donating money, in pursuit of fame.

These people, she claims, are hungry for the spotlight and often rely on cheap gimmicks to gain recognition.

Interestingly, Radu Kainu’s comments come at a time when the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is embroiled in a scandal involving false claims of endorsement deals with Dior.

In contrast, Radu Kainu expresses admiration for Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

She describes meeting Princess Catherine as a down-to-earth and normal experience, highlighting her inspiration to the entire country through her charitable work.

Radu Kainu fondly recalls playing a doubles game with Kate during a September event for the Lawn Tennis Association, of which the royal is a patron.

She praises Kate’s tennis skills and describes the encounter as surreal yet incredibly enjoyable.

Both Kate and her husband, Prince William, share a deep love for tennis and have been regular attendees at Wimbledon over the years.

Kate, in particular, is an avid player and even has a tennis court at her home in Anmer Hall.
