Last week, it was announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had parted ways with Spotify, bringing an end to their $20 million deal.

This has led to much speculation about how the couple will sustain their luxurious lifestyle.

Reports emerged that they were planning to sign a mega-deal with fashion house Dior, which has since been denied.

However, culture and brand expert Nick Ader told OK that he wouldn’t be surprised if the couple were trying to rival the likes of Victoria and David Beckham to make money.

“I think that Harry and Meghan are going to go down the brand route,” said Nick.

Trending:

“Meghan has always loved this idea of creating this whole sort of lifestyle environment that people buy into.”

According to a source, Victoria expressed her opinion after hearing the rumour.

“That tam hi, Meghan just cut off Harry’s friends one by one.

The delusion on this one to think she’s that important.

She reminds me more and more of Amber Heard.

I think Johnny Depp needs to give Harry a call.

This woman has a problem with everyone.

This is not normal behaviour.

Has needs an intervention, I think she is using the kids against him.

That’s why we didn’t invite them to our son’s wedding.”

It’s no secret that once upon a time, Harry and Meghan were big fans of the Beckhams.

The A-list couple were among the many celebrity guests at their wedding at Windsor Castle in May 2018.

However, in his book, Revenge, Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors, Tom Bauer wrote that Meghan suspected Victoria Beckham of indiscretion, adding that Harry called David Beckham to repeat the accusation.

Bauer went on to detail how outraged David was by these claims, and it’s thought the couples have grown apart since then.

Despite the fallout, there’s no doubt that Meghan, 41, will see the financial benefits of working with brands in the way the Beckhams do.

Nick suggested she’ll be keen to emulate the type of success David has had with the likes of Adidas, Tudor watches, and Haight Club.

“Eyewear, fragrance, hair care and make-up are the things that make money,” said Nick.

“If you look at Victoria Beckham, her fashion brand doesn’t make money, but her make-up and beauty range is one of the biggest sellers in the world.

I think Meghan will be eyeing that up and thinking, OK, I could probably do that and really engage a great demographic of people.”

Playing on their looks would be the key to the couple’s success, according to Nick.

“They are a glamorous couple like the Beckhams, and they are both families with kids.

That’s a really strong way of creating a brand identity.

Meghan is very beautiful.

She’s mixed race.

She’s got gorgeous skin, gorgeous hair, a gorgeous body and gorgeous looks.

She ticks every box when it comes to that, and if you’re a brand and want a brand ambassador, then she’s the perfect person to have.”

However, Nick is of the opinion that Harry, 38, and Meghan, who’ve been referred to as social justice warriors, lost credibility when their Spotify contract ended.

He suggested people aren’t as interested in what they have to say as they might think.

“It shows that they can’t make content, and the content they’re making isn’t as engaging as I think people thought it would be,” said Nick.

In terms of whether the couple can rival brand Beckham, Nick said they could get a few tips from David, 48, and Victoria, 49.

“I think they’ve got a long way to go,” he said.

“Meghan and Harry haven’t been on social media for quite a while, and Victoria is extremely agile when it comes to using her social media to promote her brand.”

Nick said Harry could learn a lot from style icon David if he does go down the fashion route.

“I don’t think he stands particularly well and always looks a bit shy,” he told us.

It’s not just Posh and Becks who the couple will be looking to for inspiration.

Nick thinks Meghan, who had a lifestyle blog The Tig before she married Harry, will also be inspired by the likes of Pouche, Kourtney Kardashian’s lifestyle brand, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s multi-million dollar goop empire.

“Whatever it is she puts her mind to, Meghan will make a success of it, and she won’t let anything get in her way,” said Nick.

“Meghan is highly ambitious, and when you’re as ambitious as she is, you can leave people in your wake.

You leave people behind because you want to get in front.

Meghan wants to build her brand and she wants to encourage Harry in that.”

In conclusion, the former royals are reportedly looking to make money through brand deals, and experts suggest they could emulate the Beckhams’ business model.

However, they have a long way to go before they can rival brand Beckham, and Harry and Meghan need to work on their social media presence and content creation.

Meghan has the potential to be a successful brand ambassador, but only time will tell if the couple can make a success of their post-royal lives.
