Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to work on a new project for Netflix, a show based on the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations.

The show, titled Bad Manners, is a prequel based on the character Miss Havisham, who will be portrayed as an independent woman living in a patriarchy, rather than the reclusive spinster she is generally known for being.

It is not yet known whether the streaming giant has commissioned the series itself.

However, the couple’s other project, Heart of Invictus, is set to be released this summer, after it was announced as one of Harry and Meghan’s first collaborations with Netflix back in 2021.

The docuseries will follow competitors in Harry’s Invictus Games, a sports tournament for injured or ill armed forces members as they train for the Games in the Hague.

It had been expected to take place in 2020, but it was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Netflix tweeted ahead of the documentary’s release, “This new series from Archwell Productions follows a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe, all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses, on their road to competing at the Invictus Games.”

Last December’s docuseries Harry and Meghan, which saw the Sussexes lift the lid on their relationship and their time as working royals, is one of the platform’s most successful programs to date.

One of the couple’s other TV projects, an animated series called Pearl, which was tipped to feature stories of powerful women from history, has been cancelled.

According to the Wall Street Journal, many of the shows pitched by Harry and Meghan were too similar to some of the streaming services’ other big hitters, such as Emily in Paris and Heartstopper.

The title branded them Big Ideas, Subpar Execution.

In a joint statement with Spotify, the couple’s company Archwell said, “Spotify and Archwell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.”

According to Bloomberg, when it came to Harry pitching his ideas, he’d mostly stuck by his own after discussions with multiple producers and production houses.

One idea of Harry’s was to talk about his experiences of fatherhood and raising Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in California with Meghan.

However, his plan to talk to public figures such as Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump about their childhoods and upbringing did not set so well with producers.

The couple’s Netflix ideas were branded subpar by underwhelmed bosses.

So what do you think about this news, guys?

The Sussexes’ latest project is set to be an exciting one, with a prequel to Great Expectations sure to be a hit with fans of the classic novel.

However, it remains to be seen whether the show will be commissioned by Netflix.

Stay tuned for more updates on the intriguing world of royalty.

Until then, thanks for reading.
