The Future of the Prince and Princess of Wales: What If William and Kate Divorce?
Rumors of an impending addition to the family of the Prince and Princess of Wales have been circulating, painting a picture of a seemingly perfect marriage.
However, let’s delve into the hypothetical scenario of what would happen if history were to repeat itself and William were to follow in his father’s footsteps by divorcing Kate.
To gain insight into this matter, we can examine the sensational divorce proceedings of Princess Diana and Prince Charles.
One notable aspect of their divorce was the agreement they signed, which granted them equal rights towards their children.
Custody was not a major issue, as the boys attended a private school and spent holidays alternating between their parents.

However, it is important to note that even in a co-parenting situation, the mother would require the father’s permission, along with the approval of the royal family, to take the children out of the country.
After her separation from Prince Charles, Lady Diana lost the title of “Her Royal Highness” and became known as Diana, Princess of Wales.
This change was a stipulation of their marriage contract.
However, William and Kate have chosen not to sign a similar agreement, meaning that Kate would retain all her titles.
Regarding their places of residence, it is likely that Kate would keep the apartment in Kensington Palace.
William, on the other hand, could settle nearby in Kensington or possibly in St. James’s Palace.
Even in the event of a divorce, the Princess of Wales would probably continue her involvement in charity projects and fulfill her duties as the mother of the future king.
This would include attending dinner parties and participating in official events.
Turning our attention to finances, we can draw from the experience of Charles and Diana.
Media reports suggest that Diana received a lump sum payment of $22.5 million, followed by an annual payment of $600,000.
Therefore, it is safe to assume that Kate would not be left without the means to live comfortably.
Additionally, she possesses personal assets of her own.
Her parents own a successful business, in which the princess is involved.
In 2015, her personal fortune was estimated to be around $7 million.
These savings could prove useful if she were to remarry, as experts believe she would lose funding and certain privileges after a second wedding.
Of course, we hope that these speculations remain purely hypothetical.
