In a recent turn of events, it has been reported that Taylor Swift declined an invitation from Meghan Markle to appear on her now-defunct podcast, Archetypes.

This news comes just over a week after it was announced that Markle and Prince Harry’s organization, Arshwell, had parted ways with Spotify due to failure to meet productivity benchmarks required to justify the payout of their three-year deal worth around £15.7 million.

Insiders familiar with the matter have reported that the road to finally releasing Archetypes in August was littered with production hurdles and obstacles.

Spotify executives were described as being frustrated with the time it took Arshwell to come up with an idea for Meghan’s show and assemble a team to work on it.

People familiar with the deal told the outlet that Spotify’s Gimlet unit helped put together a list of potential guests for Archetypes, but that finding the right kind of guest wasn’t easy.

It has been reported that Meghan sent a personal letter to Swift asking her to appear on the show, which had already hosted Mariah Carey, Serena Williams, and Paris Hilton.

However, Swift declined the invitation through a representative.

It is unclear whether Swift’s refusal was related to any financial friction between the British royal family and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The publication also reported that Meghan would ask for last-minute changes to the episode, reaching out to the show’s producers via senior Spotify executives, including the former chief content officer Don Ostroff.

Elsewhere, it was reported that Arshwell Audio failed to honor the terms of its Spotify deal, which stipulated that both Harry and Meghan would be directly involved in producing and voicing a podcast.

Prince Harry reportedly struggled to finalize an idea for the show after exploring possible podcasts about misinformation, veterans, and his point of view of living in the United States as an outsider.

The Duke also pitched a podcast in which he would interview Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump about their childhood trauma.

Spotify said its second round of job cuts in June were part of a strategic realignment of its podcast division.

In January, amid an announcement of several promotions and new hires, Arshwell also parted ways with two of its top executives.

Neither Ben Browning, head of content for Arshwell Productions and Arshwell Audio, nor Farrah Taylor, head of marketing for Arshwell, have continued with the company.

The squad is predictably trashing Taylor in the comments, but the Swifties are not to be messed with.

By the way, the Swifties outnumber the Sugars probably 50 to 1 at least, so that will help.

It remains to be seen whether Arshwell Audio will be able to overcome the production hurdles and obstacles that have plagued Archetypes.

With the departure of two top executives and failure to meet productivity benchmarks, it seems that the future of the podcast is uncertain.

As for Taylor Swift’s refusal to appear on the show, it is unclear whether this was related to any personal or financial reasons.

However, given the recent turmoil surrounding Arshwell’s partnership with Spotify, it is understandable that Swift may have declined the invitation.

In conclusion, the world may never know why Taylor Swift declined Meghan Markle’s invitation to appear on her now-defunct podcast, Archetypes.

However, with production hurdles and obstacles plaguing the show, it seems that the future of the podcast is uncertain.

Only time will tell what lies ahead for Arshwell Audio and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
