Pop star Taylor Swift reportedly declined an invitation to appear on Meghan Markle’s podcast, “Archewell Audio,” according to sources.

The Duchess of Sussex had personally written to Swift to ask her to appear on the show, which features conversations with guests about issues related to social justice and equality.

However, Swift declined the invitation through her representatives.

The news was first reported by The Money Row Diary, which noted that it was unclear what Swift had said in her response to the invitation.

The Sun has approached Swift’s management for comment.

Meghan and Prince Harry recently lost out on a potential £18m payout after Spotify decided not to renew their contract for “Archewell Audio.”

The couple’s content creation company, Archwell Sound, released a joint statement with the streaming giant confirming the split.

The statement read, “Spotify and Archewell Sound have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we created together.”

The first season of “Archewell Audio,” titled “Prime Examples,” ran for 12 episodes from August 2020.

In the show, Meghan discussed the history of stereotypes and bias against women with guests such as tennis star Serena Williams and singer Mariah Carey.

Meghan’s talent agency, WME, said that the team behind “Archewell Audio” is still proud of the podcast they created at Spotify.

However, they added that Meghan is developing new content for a different platform.

According to sources, Archwell Sound is in ongoing discussions to bring their content to other providers’ services.

Insiders have told The Money Row Diary that Harry and Meghan have been asked to come up with more must-watch shows for Netflix, for which they are reportedly being paid £40m in exceptional fees.

The couple’s six-part documentary series for Netflix was the streaming giant’s most-watched documentary, but they have reportedly been paid only half of their reported £81m contract.

The rest of the payment is contingent on them producing content that generates significant interest.

A source in the industry said that Netflix is happy with the viewing figures for Harry and Meghan’s series, but the deal is always under review.

The source added that there is no question of a title grab or public split between the couple and Netflix.

The streaming giant was pleased to sign Harry and Meghan and is looking for more great ideas from them.

The Sun has approached Meghan for comment on the Spotify split and Archewell Sound’s alleged failure to meet productivity benchmarks.

According to insiders, the production company struggled to come up with an idea for Meghan’s show and assemble a team to work on it.

Spotify’s development unit reportedly helped create a list of potential guests for “Archewell Audio,” but finding the right kind of guest proved challenging.

Meghan was also said to have requested last-minute changes to the episodes, engaging with the show’s producers via senior Spotify executives, including former chief content officer Sunrise Ostroff.

Elsewhere, it was reported that Archewell Sound failed to honor the terms of its contract with Spotify, which specified that both Harry and Meghan would be directly involved in producing and voicing a podcast.

Prince Harry reportedly tried to develop an idea for a show about misinformation, veterans, and his experience living in the US, but nothing came to fruition.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Harry and Meghan’s content creation ventures.
