Prince Harry’s plans to interview controversial figures such as Vladimir Putin, Mark Zuckerberg, and Donald Trump in a Spotify podcast have been met with ridicule from Pope Francis and Spotify executives.

The Duke of Sussex reportedly shocked producers with his idea to ask these world leaders about their childhoods and how they became the men they are today.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle had previously signed a deal with Spotify for a podcast series from the Duchess of Sussex.

However, their deal was axed after just one series.

Harry then spoke with multiple producers and production houses to discuss possible shows, including one about childhood trauma.

The concept that Harry proposed was to interview a procession of controversial guests, including Putin and Trump, about their early formative years and how these experiences resulted in the adults they are today.

Harry also had the idea for a show centered on fatherhood and another that would tackle major societal conversations episode by episode, ranging from climate change to religion.

For the latter, Harry hoped to have Pope Francis as a guest, but the leader of the Catholic Church reportedly violently mocked the idea.

It is unclear whether the Pope was preoccupied with his drug therapy or simply uninterested in the proposal.

Critics have questioned whether Harry would be intellectually capable of conducting an interview on any of these topics or with these people.

Many have suggested that Meghan turned Harry into a world salad-loving, trauma-obsessed individual.

They believe that Putin and Trump would never agree to be interviewed by him.

In other words, many believe that Harry is a narcissist who thinks he can interview world leaders just because he is Prince Harry.

His wife did her own podcast, but she only managed to interview high-profile personalities such as Serena Williams and Mariah Carey.

Critics argue that Harry and Meghan think they can socialize with the likes of Putin and Trump, and that their goal in life is to be bigger than the royal family.

However, it wasn’t just Pope Francis who was critical of Harry’s plans.

Just a day later, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, Bill Simmons, branded the couple “fucking grifters” in a foul-mouthed rant.

Simmons claimed that he had tried to help Harry with his podcast idea but found him difficult to work with.

The couple submitted an application to get exclusive rights to the podcast, but the US Patent Office and Trademark Office rejected their claims on the basis of a likelihood of confusion with an existing brand.

It remains to be seen whether Harry will pursue his podcast plans or whether he will be deterred by the criticism he has received.
