Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have joyfully announced the birth of their baby daughter, weighing 7 pounds and 11 ounces.

The couple has decided to honor two senior members of the royal family by naming their newborn Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, after the Queen and the late Princess of Wales.

However, royal expert Ingrid Seward has expressed her belief that the Queen may be perplexed by this name choice, considering Meghan and Harry’s recent criticism of the royal family.

Seward commented on the situation, saying, “How charming that Harry and Meghan have decided to call their daughter Lilibet or Lily as a compliment to the Queen.

But how strange, as they profess to want to remove themselves from royal life, that they have chosen to use such an intimate royal nickname for their daughter.

Trending:

It was affectionately used by only her parents and her husband, but I am certain she will be pleased and perhaps a little confused that Prince Harry has decided to use this name.”

Seward also questioned whether the Queen would approve of the use of her personal nickname, as she has not been fond of informal nicknames in the past.

In an article for The Sun, Seward wrote, “The Queen has a healthy disregard for nicknames.

When her son Prince Andrew’s affair with Coo Stark was all over the press, the only thing she said is, ‘Why can’t they all be Catherine?'”

Furthermore, Seward raised another point of curiosity regarding Meghan’s family not being mentioned in the choice of their daughter’s name.

She wondered, “Of course Harry wants to remember his mother, so the name Diana had to be in there somewhere.

But where is Meghan’s parentage in all of this?”

The nickname Lilibet originated from the Queen herself when she was a child, struggling to pronounce her actual name.

This endearing term stuck throughout her life, with her father, the late King George VI, fondly addressing his eldest daughter as Lilibet.

Even Prince Philip adopted the nickname and often referred to his wife as Lilibet instead of Elizabeth.

Meghan and Harry’s PR team officially announced the birth of their daughter at 5 pm.

The child was born on Friday at 11:40 am, under the trusted care of doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California.

Both mother and baby are in good health and are settling in at home.

The statement released by their press secretary provided a brief explanation for the chosen names.

Lily is a tribute to her great-grandmother, the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.

Diana, on the other hand, was chosen to honor Harry’s beloved late mother, the Princess of Wales.

In their statement, Meghan and Harry expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of love and prayers they have received from around the world.

They shared, “On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lily.

She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and support during this very special time for our family.”
