King Charles Appoints Person of Color as Assistant Private Security in Historic Decision Amid Sussexes Drama
In a surprising move, King Charles has appointed a person of color to the role of his assistant private security, marking the first time that someone from an ethnic minority has been given such a senior position within the palace.
The decision comes amidst the ongoing drama between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the streaming giants in the U.S.
The appointment seems to be a conscious effort to look beyond the traditional parameters of British white males.
The individual chosen for the role is a British civil servant named Nathan Ross, who previously served in the New Zealand government.
Trending:
Dr. Ross will be responsible for advising the 74-year-old monarch on matters related to the Commonwealth and sustainability.
Both Nathan Ross and the other new recruit will serve as the primary sources of advice for King Charles, focusing on governmental, constitutional, and political affairs.
The job advert for the position specified that candidates should have a good general knowledge of current affairs, both nationally and internationally.
According to Express UK, the palace has set a target of increasing its diversity to 14 percent by 2025, although it has not yet reached its previous target of 10 percent.
An official from the palace acknowledged that they are working towards creating a more inclusive culture and are committed to making progress.
The annual Sovereign Grant Report also revealed that 16.3 percent of the staff working for Prince Charles and Princess Camilla are from ethnic minority backgrounds.
This demonstrates a degree of diversity within the royal household.
Amidst criticism over their silence on recent events involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a Buckingham Palace source has explained why the royal family has chosen not to weigh in on the matter.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made headlines again this week after accusing a group of aggressive paparazzi of pursuing them through the streets of New York.
However, spokespersons for King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate declined to comment on the incident, and no member of the royal family reached out to Harry or Meghan.
According to a palace source speaking to Entertainment Tonight, since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties, the palace generally refrains from commenting on their activities.
This policy explains the lack of response from the royal family regarding the recent incident in New York.
In their initial statement, a spokesperson for the Sussexes described the dangerous nature of the pursuit, which lasted over two hours and involved near collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, and even two NYPD officers.
The couple had been attending a gala dinner and were staying at a house on New York’s Upper East Side, a short distance from where the incident occurred.
People close to Harry and Meghan claimed that the scene was chaotic and that someone could have been seriously injured or killed due to the photographers’ relentless pursuit.
However, the police stated that although the journey through Manhattan was challenging, there were no crashes, collisions, injuries, or arrests.
Sukarn Singh, the cab driver who unexpectedly found himself transporting the royal couple, later downplayed the events, stating that he did not consider it a chase and never felt in danger.
He mentioned that they were quiet and seemed scared, but emphasized that such situations are not uncommon in New York and that they ultimately arrived safely at their destination.
The appointment of a person of color to a senior role within the palace and the royal family’s decision not to comment on the recent incident involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reflect the ongoing complexities and dynamics within the monarchy.
