Jessica Biel, who played the role of Mary Camden in the popular TV series “7th Heaven,” has publicly apologized to the crew and executive producer Aaron Spelling for posing topless at the age of 17 for Gear magazine.

The magazine cover was released on her 18th birthday and caused a stir amongst the show’s cast and crew, who were shocked to see their co-star in a sexual photoshoot.

7th Heaven followed the story of a Protestant minister, Reverand Eric Camden, and his family.

The show was highly praised for its family-friendly content, making the topless shoot a controversial move for Biel, who played the minister’s daughter.

In a recent interview on E!’s Awards Chatter podcast, the now 36-year-old actress expressed regret about the incident and acknowledged the impact it had on her work life.

Trending:

Biel said, “The worst part was I had to go back to work. The thing comes out, and literally I had to go back to work that next morning.”

“Everybody was…they didn’t know if they should look me in the eye, and I was just a mess.”

Biel also mentioned that the photoshoot wasn’t intended to be a calculated move to increase her profile.

She explained, “It definitely never was meant to be some shocking, exposing situation and whether it was my own sort of ya know ability to try to be my own person by myself, ya know, confident woman.”

“I said yes to things that probably I should’ve said no to. It was just one of those things that got out of hand.”

Despite the controversy, Biel remained with the show for a total of ten seasons.

She appeared in the first six seasons as a series regular and returned for season seven as a recurring star.

Biel also made special guest appearances in seasons eight and ten.

The actress, who is married to singer Justin Timberlake, said that she learned from the experience and understands that her actions had consequences.

“You’re young. You don’t mean to hurt people. You don’t mean to do this,” Biel said.

Biel acknowledged that the incident was a difficult time for her, and she felt embarrassed about it.

“I didn’t…you’re young. You don’t mean to hurt people. You don’t mean to do this.”

The Gear shoot became pretty infamous, but Jessica insists that the cover wasn’t a ‘calculated move’ to raise her profile.

The Sinner star said: ‘I think I was 17, I’m a woman now, I’m a grown up now. I’m sexy, ya know, this type of vibe and honestly, it just went a little awry.

‘It definitely never was meant to be some shocking, exposing situation and whether it was my own sort of ya know ability to try to be my own person by myself, ya know, confident woman.

‘I said yes to things that probably I should’ve said no to. It was just one of those things that got out of hand.’
