Final Journey: King Charles Mourns as Nation Bids Farewell to Longest-Reigning Monarch
On a somber Monday morning, September 19, the nation gathered to witness the final steps of Queen Elizabeth’s journey to her eternal resting place.
After 12 days of mourning, a procession commenced from New Palace Yard, leading to Westminster Abbey.
The new monarch, King Charles, could not conceal his emotions during his beloved mother’s state funeral.
Tears streamed down his face as he sorrowfully watched her coffin being carried into the church for the poignant service.
This heartfelt display caused concern among onlookers, including his sister, Princess Anne.

Gripping his ceremonial sword, he appeared downcast as hymns and prayers filled the historic abbey.
Approximately 2,000 VIPs, including world leaders, gathered in the UK’s most important church to pay their final respects.
Despite the enormity of the service, a profound silence fell as hundreds of pipers and drummers from regiments, the Brigade of Gurkhas, and RAF played while the procession made its way towards Westminster Abbey.
Upon arrival, the future King, Prince George, and his sister, Princess Charlotte, bid farewell to their beloved great-grandmother as they became the youngest members of the royal family to follow the Queen’s coffin through the abbey.
Walking a little behind their parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Charlotte clasped her hands in front of her, while George stood with his arms by his side.
