Prince Harry has been scolded for taking Meghan Markle to Ibiza in a private jet that has a huge carbon footprint.

Prince Harry has caused outrage by taking Meghan to Ibiza on a private plane for the second time in two weeks.

The trip to celebrate Meghan’s birthday came amid Harry, warning of the “terrifying” consequences of climate change.

The jet emitted seven times the amount of CO2 per person as any of the nine regular scheduled flights from London to the Spanish holiday island.

Harry and Meghan, who were joined by their baby son Archie, arrived in Ibiza on Tuesday last week – accompanied by publicly-funded Met Police protection officers.

They were then escorted by five Spanish security officers to their secluded luxury private villa.

On Monday, the family returned to the United Kingdom.

Harry took the flight after attending Google Camp in Sicily at the end of July to give a “barefoot speech” on environmental conservation.

It was said that the tech titan paid for his private jet and helicopter flights there and back.

“Meghan fell in love with Ibiza and Formentera when she first visited three years ago after falling in love with Harry,” a royal source said.

“She enjoys celebrating her birthday away from home, and Harry was only too happy to spoil her. They had a great time.”

But, after his speeches urging others to “take action” on climate change, Harry has been accused of hypocrisy about his use of private jets.

“With nearly 7.7 billion people inhabiting this Earth, every choice, every footprint, every action makes a difference,” he wrote in a July post on his SussexRoyal Instagram account.

“This is really, really, really bad PR,” ex-MEP Patrick O’Flynn said. The British public despises this kind of ‘do as I say, not as I do’ behavior.”

“The Duke of Sussex speaks wonderful and stirring words on the environment, and then he flies off on holiday to a European destination in a private jet,” said Aaron Kiely, a climate change activist for Friends of the Earth.

“He could have taken the train, then the boat. This would have been an excellent time to set an environmental example.”

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the trip to Ibiza.
