The Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, has once again outshone Meghan Markle by wearing her favourite heels to an event.

Catherine stepped out in a pair of black Akwesasre pumps, which feature a flirty bow, for the reopening of the National Portrait Gallery in London.

The shoes were often worn by Meghan during her time as a working royal, and many have accused Catherine of copying her sister-in-law’s style.

However, it is important to note that Meghan does not have a signature Akwesasre model.

She was not involved in the concept, design or production of these shoes.

Many royal women, including Catherine, have been wearing Akwesasre shoes long before Meghan settled over London.

The brand was founded in 2012 and was not a household name when Meghan started wearing their shoes.

Despite this, Meghan has been influential for the brand.

When she wore the shoes to the Queen’s Young Leaders reception in June 2018, the company tweeted about it, receiving one comment, 12 retweets and 48 likes.

Similarly, when Meghan wore the bow tie pump 105 heels to the Commonwealth reception in London in 2018, the tweet received 0 comments, 27 retweets and 77 likes.

However, when Catherine wears the brand, it receives more attention.

When she wore the black Akwesasre pumps to the realm governor’s general and prime minister’s lunch at Buckingham Palace in May, the brand’s tweet received over 100 comments, 200 retweets and 2500 likes.

This suggests that Catherine may be a true trendsetter and game changer in terms of brand awareness.

The founder of Akwesasre, Edgardo, is a prodigy who studied at the London College of Fashion and worked for Roberto Cavalli before setting up his own brand.

The company is known for bold patterns and metallics, and each sole features the brand’s gold pineapple logo.

Prices range from £370 to £1500, and the brand is sold in high-end department stores.

Edgardo explains that the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality, and the gold pineapple is a symbol of good fortune in Asian cultures.

The brand’s headquarters is in Florence, and Edgardo lives in a 15th century palazzo with his partner, Riccardo Dalmedia, who had a PR agency.

Returning to the National Portrait Gallery reopening, Catherine looked stunning in a white midi dress with a plaited skirt and a tweed jacket.

She accessorised with simple pearl teardrop earrings and wore her thick brunette locks down in a bouncy blow-dry.

Her outfit was in keeping with the theme of the occasion, which had been closed for three years for an extensive refurbishment programme.

Catherine’s choice of shoes was a nod to Meghan, but it is clear that she wore them with her own sense of style and individuality.

This is not the first time she has worn the heels, having previously worn them to the realm governor’s general and prime minister’s lunch at Buckingham Palace in May.

In conclusion, Catherine’s choice of shoes may have caused a stir among royal fashion followers, but it is important to remember that she is her own person with her own sense of style.

Akwesasre may have been influenced by Meghan, but Catherine’s influence on the brand cannot be denied.
