Blake Lively Couldn’t find clothes that fit her After Giving Birth
After birthing her third daughter, Betty, in October of 2019, Blake Lively is opening up about her post-baby body challenges.
The actress shared a series of Instagram Stories about the costumes she wore on the promotional tour for her film The Rhythm Section, which took place just a few months after Blake and Ryan Reynolds’ third child was born, and how she struggled to find clothes that fit her.
She captioned a photo of herself on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in January 2020, “I put together a Lanvin shirt and dress from Net-a-Porter to make this pretty outfit. Because no one had samples that fit me after giving birth. And so many clothes from stores didn’t fit either. So. Many.”
While Lively is referring to the difficulty of finding designer apparel in sample sizes, we absolutely appreciate her point of view.
She went on to say, “It doesn’t send a great message to women when their bodies don’t fit into what brands have to offer. It’s alienating and confusing. And I wish I felt as confident then as I do now, a year later looking back. That body gave me a baby. And was producing that baby’s entire food supply. What a beautiful miracle. But instead of feeling proud, I felt insecure. Simply because I didn’t fit into clothes. How silly that is in retrospect.”

The actress then tagged Megababe founder Katie Sturino, saying that she is “challenging brands to do better” in terms of making clothing more inclusive.
Lively commented, “@katiesturino and others are out there challenging brands to do better, helping women to not feel alone. And she’s making meaningful progress. She reminds me, we all can ask for better from the brands we love.”

Lively’s remark was afterwards shared by Sturino, who wrote: “Wow!!! Waking up to an amazing message about body acceptance and fashion brands from @blakelively”
Lively revealed that she and Reynolds had welcomed their third child during an interview with Fallon in January 2020, telling the host: “I sure did [have another baby]. I have so many children! Yeah, it’s a bit of a tough adjustment in our house, but it’s good.”
The Gossip Girl actress, who has three children with her husband Ryan Reynolds—James, Inez, and Betty—has been posting several throwback fashion moments of late. “Sexy Grover fashion goal has been checked off the bucket list,” she captioned a photo of herself wearing a furry blue coat from Max Mara.
“Smiling while napping inside,” she captioned a shot of herself wearing an all-yellow Fendi ensemble and another in a Valentino trench coat.
Lively married actor Ryan Reynolds in 2012.
