Bill Simmons Trashes Meghan Markle & Prince Harry as ‘Grifters’
Sports media personality and Ringer founder, Bill Simmons, has taken a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over their Spotify exit.
He expressed his thoughts on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in one of his latest podcast episodes, where he referred to them as “grifters” and joked that he wished he was part of their deal to leave Spotify.
Simmons also teased a story about trying to pitch Prince Harry a podcast idea over Zoom, which apparently didn’t go well.
Reports suggest that the couple simply weren’t producing enough content to meet their end of the $20 million contract and as such, may not receive full payment.
They are not alone in facing the consequences of content inadequacy, with Jemele Hill and the Obamas having lost their deals with Spotify for similar reasons.

Simmons’ criticism of the couple appears to stem from his belief that they brought little to nothing to the table at Spotify.
The podcast kingpin oversees a sea of podcasts under The Ringer brand, which was sold to Spotify for a boatload of cash a few years back.
Although Simmons’ comments were somewhat critical, they were not without humor.
He joked about being envious of the couple’s deal to leave Spotify and called them virtual phonies in the podcast game, even dropping what sounded like an F-bomb during his rant.
It is unclear whether Simmons’ comments are indicative of wider industry sentiment towards the couple or if they are merely a reflection of his personal opinion.
The couple’s departure from Spotify raises concerns regarding the future of their popular Archewell Audio podcast, which they launched last year.
Despite the potential fallout from their Spotify exit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have continued to remain highly active in other areas.
The couple recently announced the birth of their second child, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, and have been vocal about their ongoing feud with the royal family.
The couple’s departure from the royal family and subsequent move to the United States has been a source of controversy since it was first announced.
