Working with Harry and Meghan: A Royal Headache with Few Benefits

After their departure from the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, ventured into the world of multi-million pound deals with streaming giants Spotify and Netflix.

However, it seems that working with the couple has proven to be more of a headache than a fruitful partnership.

Recently, the Sussexes’ lucrative Spotify deal came to an abrupt end after just one podcast series from Meghan.

Both parties announced that they had mutually agreed to part ways, but this decision has raised eyebrows and sparked criticism.

Royal commentator Dan Wootten expressed his thoughts on the matter, stating that the Royals were ill-prepared for real jobs and that working with Harry and Meghan offered little in terms of benefits.

One of the main points of contention was Prince Harry’s questionable ideas for the podcast, such as interviewing figures like Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Mark Zuckerberg about their childhoods.

Wootten dismissed these notions as farcical, impractical, and impossible.

Furthermore, the Sussexes had reportedly pitched a TV project to tackle misinformation, which Wootten found ironic considering the misinformation surrounding their own claims of being creative masterminds worth millions.

In reality, Meghan has only released one podcast series called “The Archetypes,” consisting of 12 episodes.

Despite this limited output, she managed to secure interviews with superstars like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey, ultimately winning the Best Podcast award at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

However, it appears that not everyone is eager to collaborate with Meghan.

Reports suggest that pop star Taylor Swift turned down an offer to appear on the show, despite receiving a personal handwritten letter from the Duchess.

The Wall Street Journal revealed that Swift declined the opportunity, leaving Meghan disappointed.

The setbacks continued when Bill Simmons, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, criticized the couple, referring to them as “grifters.”

Simmons shared that he had an interesting podcast idea involving Harry, but the deal fell through, leaving him feeling frustrated.

Despite these challenges, Harry and Meghan can find solace in their agreement with Netflix.

The streaming giant has reassured the couple that their partnership is ongoing, stating that they are currently collaborating on various projects, including the highly anticipated Invictus documentary series.

In conclusion, working with Harry and Meghan has proven to be a royal headache with minimal benefits.

The cancellation of their Spotify deal, criticism from industry professionals, and failed attempts to secure high-profile guests have all contributed to the challenges they face.

However, their partnership with Netflix remains intact, offering a glimmer of hope for future endeavors.
