Way out of Your League: Megan’s Hopes Dashed as Cannes Red Carpet Excludes Her from Festivities
The 2023 Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off in Cannes, France, and it’s a dream come true for major red carpet fans.
This annual event showcases some of the most talked-about films of the year and boasts one of the most extravagant step and repeat experiences in the world.
Comparable to the Oscars and Met Gala, Cannes is a fashion spectacle like no other, far more formal than other film festivals such as Venice or TIFF.
Over the years, Cannes has delivered breathtaking style moments that have captivated audiences.
From Princess Diana’s stunning Catherine Walker gown in 1987 to Madonna’s Jean Paul Gaultier Côte d’Azur in 1991 and Amal Kallouni’s radiant Italia Versace gown in 2016, the festival has consistently impressed with its glamour.

More recently, Bella Hadid made waves with her Schiaparelli Couture dress and gold lung-like breastplate in 2021.
Now, Cannes is ready to party once again, with A-listers like Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Alicia Vikander, Jude Law, and Cate Blanchett all set for a Côte d’Azur hoedown.
Let’s take a glimpse at some of the festival’s festivities during the 76th Cannes Film Festival, which runs from Tuesday until May 27th.
As the red carpet welcomes one big name after another, Meghan’s fans are left disappointed as the Duchess of Sussex fails to make an appearance.
Before marrying Prince Harry, one of Meghan’s biggest dreams was to participate in events like the Oscars and Cannes.
Unfortunately, up until now, her aspirations have remained unfulfilled.
Last year, Meghan collaborated with media giants such as Netflix and Spotify to create her own projects, all of which were submitted for consideration for Oscar nominations.
However, to her dismay, none of Meghan’s productions met the mark and failed to gain recognition.
Despite her early hustling as an actress, including roles like “briefcase girl number 24” on the popular game show Deal or No Deal, where she revealed the amount of money inside a piece of luggage, Meghan’s career never truly took off.
After marrying into royalty, she hoped to be presenting awards and attending prestigious events.
She envisioned herself hosting the Oscars, chairing the Met Gala, and commanding substantial fees for speeches in important venues.
Yet, she continues to be overlooked at every turn.
Returning to Cannes 2023, the A-list afterparty for the festival’s opening night film, Jean Dubarry, a period costume drama starring Johnny Depp, will be held at the renowned Carlton hotel.
The DDA, a publicity and marketing agency, will host its annual first-night cocktail bash at the Carlton beach, where guests are advised to dress informally.
Additionally, Rocket Science, a prolific sales company, will guide guests to a private soiree at their Cannes offices.
Meanwhile, the Black Bear International sales, marketing, and distribution outfit will welcome attendees to a beach feast.
These are just a few of the exciting events taking place during the festival.
While Cannes 2023 promises to be a star-studded affair, Megan’s absence from the festivities is a reminder that dreams don’t always come true, even for those who marry into royalty.
Despite her efforts to establish herself in the entertainment industry, Meghan Markle’s career has not reached the heights she had envisioned.
