Trooping the Colour 2021: A Celebration of King Charles’s Birthday
The official celebration of King Charles’s birthday, Trooping the Colour, took place yesterday, and it was a spectacle to behold.
The event was filled with pomp and pageantry, and it marked King Charles’s first official birthday parade.
However, there were some notable differences from previous years.
One significant change was the absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were not present at the event.
This is not surprising, given the current state of Harry’s relationship with the royal family.

We also saw new epaulets, with CR for Charles Rex, and a flypast spelling out the letters CR as well.
Kate and Camilla were given new roles, with Kate as Colonel of the Irish Guards and Camilla as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.
Another significant change was the slimmed-down monarchy.
Only working royals were present, and there were no unnecessary guests on the balcony.
The Duke of Gloucester and the Duke of Kent, who were present on the side, will likely retire in the next few years.
Princess Anne had previously noted that the firm needed to slim down, and we’re seeing this play out.

However, the rule was changed when William and Kate were coming to have their children, and the Queen declared that William and Kate’s children would have those roles.
Finally, King Charles appointed Queen Camilla to the most ancient and most noble order of the thistle, which is quite an honor.
There are only 16 knights within this order of companionship, and there will likely be a small ceremony once the royals go up to Scotland.
Camilla’s elevated status is a testament to her PR masterclass over the last 20 years, during which she has become a beloved figure due to her work with children’s literacy and domestic violence.
