The Queen’s secret bath routine, as prepared by a member of her staff

Running a nice bath and reading a good book are two of the best ways to relax, and it seems that the Queen does this. She takes a bath every morning.

Her Majesty has a member of staff who takes care of her morning showers.

Seriously. The Queen gets up at 7:30 a.m. every day, according to Daily Mail royal reporter Brian Hoey, and her maid switches on the radio first thing so the queen may listen to BBC Radio 4’s Today program as she gets ready.

“Her maid will go into the adjoining bathroom to draw the bath, which has to be exactly the right temperature: tested with a wooden-cased thermometer, and no more than seven inches of water,” royal reporter Brian Hoey reported in the Daily Mail.

We’re guessing she’s never experienced the issue of forgetting to turn off the water and overfilling the tub.

By this time, Angela Kelly, the Queen’s Personal Assistant and Curator of her Wardrobe, is close by to put together her first costume of the day.

According to the expert, The Queen will change her clothes up to five times a day, depending on her schedule, and Angela will have access to her itinerary the night before.

After being clothed and groomed, the Queen is ready to go about her tasks and obligations for the day.

Angela Kelly stated in her candid book The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser, and the Wardrobe that she goes to great efforts to ensure that The Queen’s big occasion outfits are practical and comfortable, including two fittings for each outfit.

Her Majesty often wears gowns with extensive beading for state dinners and ceremonial royal responsibilities, causing the garment to become extremely heavy.

“I usually add a few extra lining to help cushion the impact, especially at the back of the dress,” Angela, who has worked at Buckingham Palace since 1994, said.

“[I] try to keep the heavily beaded areas to the front and sides.”
