Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has recently released her new book titled “The Bench,” which draws inspiration from her husband, Prince Harry, and their son, Archie.

The book originated from a heartfelt poem Meghan wrote for Father’s Day, and it was made available to the public today.

However, despite the anticipation surrounding its release, “The Bench” has failed to secure a spot in Amazon’s top 200 bestsellers list, only reaching number 204.

It also ranks at number 60 on the list of bestselling children’s books.

Critics have not been kind to Meghan’s literary debut, with one reviewer even describing it as “semi-literate.”

Trending:

Claire Alfre, a critic from The Telegraph, expressed her disbelief that any publisher would consider releasing this collection of poorly rhyming and grammar-defying homilies.

She further questioned whether any child would find interest in reading it.

Alfre also commented on how the book seems to focus more on the Sussex brand rather than the genuine experience of raising a family, portraying Harry as a bystander while Meghan takes on the world.

Alex Connell from The Times went on to describe “The Bench” as a self-help manual for parents in need, highlighting its lack of action and suspense.

Connell even humorously suggested that the writing duties may have been assigned to an inanimate object.

These scathing reviews were echoed by many Amazon customers, who gave the book a one-star rating.

One reviewer expressed disappointment, stating that they couldn’t understand why the author believed this story would captivate children.

They found it monotonous and uninspiring, suggesting that it might have been better kept as a personal project for the family’s enjoyment.

Interestingly, this criticism comes shortly after the release of another royal book.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, unveiled her own work called “Hold Still,” which features a collection of photographs from a contest she organized.

Unlike Meghan’s book, Kate’s publication quickly soared to the top of the bestseller list on its release day and currently holds the second-highest position among all titles on Amazon.
